That is a mighty piece of work can't wait to see the other barracks and read who occupied them keep up your mighty task, If that does not merit a key ring then I will be flabergasted

Hi Tommy S and Matt, Wow Tommy what truly amazing piece of history you've put together there. Thanks so much for all the effort you've put into transcribing all the families names who lived in Pearse. I've just been reading through and I'm not ashamed to say I'm misty eyed and did shed a tear seeing all the old friends and neighbours names some of whom I'd forgotten, but on seeing them written down the faces, characters, voices and houses all clicked into place and came flooding back. it was like being back there really emotional. Thanks Matt for posting it so quick ,it will be great for the other forum members as each quarters is finished. Good Luck with the rest Tommy well done. Its great to know the dates we shifted and who lived there before us and after us. I knew ye'd moved into no 3 after us Tommy but I never knew that before that ye had moved into no 25 or as it was then 9b block after us. Bye For Now MaryF

Hi All Just looking at some of the names of the locations and The Windy Gap Road, was so named because of the howling gales that blew across the plains and on to that particular Road, it is really known as Owen Roe Road and is located around the Range Wardens area. And while I am on the subject, Dobbyn's Hill as we Shadowers liked to call it, was known as the Dairy Hill when the British Forces were in occupation in the Camp.

Hi Tommy and All, I've just been back looking over Tommy's research of all Pearse occupants and I'd appreciate some help in the names and whereabouts of some of the officers hses! 1, QMS hse Pearse, 2 Pearse/Keane hse, 3 Winkfields hse, 4 Clonree hse. Where exactly were they situated? Also how many bungalows are still standing in K Lines? I never realised they all had names like Lough Derg etc. We all remember the o'Connors living in the canteen managers house prior to 71, so just wondering if they could be added to the list for that particular house without specific dates MaryF

HI, TO EVERYONE
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement ,Mary F your a divil complicating matters asking awkward questions some I know
slige dala is still there in k lines I think it may be on its own not been up there in a while johnny might have been up around the area on his travels looking for his little friend. QMs house and pearse house are on the top road QMs house nearer to the gap that used to bring you down to the swinging boats and pearse house is the last house on that road were the UN school is now I could be wrong on that one not 100% sure I haven't giving up on the canteen managers house yet your right the o Connors were the first family that came to my mind as well if we do not get the dates we will stick them in some were, we will have to put our heads together to come up with some of the other houses
regards Tommy S

Hi Tommy S Ah Jaysus Tommy I'm sorry trust me to throw a spanner into the works. God knows the task you've taken on is time consuming enough. It was just me being curious and nosey, so thanks for the locations of the houses you've given me. Its amazing isn't it we grew up walked by those same houses god knows how many times and never even gave a thought as to the whether they had names or numbers they were just the offices houses to us. Mind you the same applied to the roads and the hills. It was the top, middle and bottom road and Dobbins,Trolley, and hospital hill if anyone had asked for them by their proper names I wouldn't have had a clue So don't mind me trying to complicate matters, you just enjoy the rest of your research. Looking forward to the McDonagh one when its ready. Best of Luck MaryF

Tmmy S.
Don't blame you not wanting to kiss a ring it could be brown.
Mick Power married to Thersa Flynn also lived in canteen managers house
I think you are right about locations and names of those houses
