Hi Tommy S.
Paddy O Connor listed at 11 Owen Roe / 68 Windy in 1941 no mention of him in canteen managers house. I do remember calling to that house , managers one when I knocked around with Billy that had to be mid 60's at least so they were living there then and I think Mick Power was last to occupy it but not 100% on that.

Hi TommyH That Rainbow is actually ending up in Pearse, and I would say around Owen Roe Road, or The Windy Gap Road, just look at the Rainbow it is behind the tree line, and I do think that is where Johnny captured Seán. The photo was given to me by Kathy and Eileen on there recent visit here for onward transmission to Rose, however I thought it such a good shot, that it deserved it's place on the Forum. Reference Paddy O Connor living in Pearse Canteen Managers House, remembering back to 1957 Paddy O Connor and Eileen lived therein, as Billy and I grew up together in Pearse, The possible reason for not having any of the Canteen Managers listed was possibly because they were civilians and could not sign for the house from the Military, the allocation of such houses must have been in the hands of The Army Canteen Board, and when the Canteens/Grocery closed down they were then taken back on the books by the Military Authorities. Simon Donohue along with Louis Parminter were the only Army Tenants that I can remember living there. Somewhere in the back of my mind I can remember the occupants before Paddy O Connor (Billy's Dad), and I am just waiting for one of those Eureka moment to recall the names. Regards JoeyK

Joey, Just trying to throw the ones with the shovels off the track, don't think Johnny would appreciate them all digging at the end of his rainbow as that finances all his international matches, and to many shovels would make the pot smaller. Andy
Some good footie results to day, strange, it is heading back to a two horse race!

Good thinking there Andy, We have to protect Johnny's few bob, who knows we might even get a drink at the next shadowers. I am closing down now as I have a bit of work to do believe it or not! So nighty night JoeyK

Hi All,
Well done Mr Sweeney, what a stroll down memory lane, have been all evening going through the lists of names for both Pearse and McDonagh, I always thought I was born when the folks resided in Connolly, McDonagh through and through was brought home from the Families to McDonagh Mansions. Surprised my big sister never informed me of this.
Rose.
