Hi rose,
I hope I didn't cause a family ruck we all new you were a MC donagh woman ,I think johnny and joey have the scars to prove it trying to pass down the road without getting a sod of turf in the ear,Its amazing how many people passed through not only army but civilians I bet their are people on the lists you forgot about I suppose it might be a help to people trying to trace relatives.
regards

A great deal of information here it is an aid to geneology, I am awaiting the rest. I also like the way spouses are named as tome most of them were always missus

Tommy S / Matt.
Had a thought a dangerous thing from me, but when ye have completed the data base of all the people in the camp, could we not add some flesh to the bones by adding what children we know of to each family. With that record and the one you have Matt of the schools it would be some comprehensive document.
I understand and know that it is some task but could it not be simplified by placing it on a data base with a formula for uniting the repetive army numbers which would show the pattern of shifting in the camp.
Your thoughts Matt

Andy, Thats a lora lora work but with of couple of people working on it it could be a runner, At the moment I just started McDermott Bk's and iam afraid it will take twice as long mostly because each house had on average twenty occupants while pearse and MC Donaugh about half of that,Still coming across names i had forgotten about. Its enjoyable all the same. by the the way your gone very patriotic with the tri color hanging out the window of the car Tommy S

Tommy S.
I agree with you that it would be a lot of work, I was thinking of a completion date well into the future.
Me flag tis not hanging out of the window tis flying and if I don't take it down soon there will be none of it left, tis also a handy way of finding it in the car parks
Best of luck with all your transcribing of curragh folk both those born there and those whom have passed through, a carbon foot print was left behind.

Hi Andy,
The Titanium in Johnny's hip must be floating to the grey matter and is fuzzing his memory, the Families Hospital was situated between Pearse and McDonagh MQRS., theres no doubt about me being McDonagh through and through, no confusion here.
Also Andy I am sure you will agree with me, there is no doubt that Paddy Phillips is a McDonagh man, the length of time the family lived in McDonagh looks like when Paddy was brought home from the Families in the little blue blanket it was a left at the top of the hill and not a right his Ma took.
I rest my case.
Rose.

Hi Tommy,
What a great piece of reading, brought back memories, and families I heard Mam talk about, but don't actually remember them, also saw on the Pearse names, Dad's cousin Tommy McGiveny who lived with his wife Lucy in the Grey Homes, also his sister Lucy lived on the Curragh, she married a chap called Hugh O'Neill who was local I think, will be watching out for them. Could name a good few kids of the families that passed through McDonagh and Pearse, Andy on the ball as usual it would make interesting reading too.
Keep up the good work am looking forward to the rest of the Qtrs.
Cheers,
Rose.

Hi Rose,
It makes the effort worth while when I see that the information is useful to people even if its to settle little disputes on who's from where, and also to hear that you recognize relatives that lived in quarters years ago. I hope in the future it will be useful to people researching family trees etc. Iam taking a break from MC Demott quarters the mind starts to wonder I seen a name of a cpl hickey p no 3 band who lived in MC Demott no 11 wonder if thats peter the sacristan?
Regards
Tommy S

Hi Rose The Families Hospital was situated in Pearse, Pearse ended at the left hand side of Cahill's Hill and Mc Donagh started on the right hand side of Cahill's Hill, that's if you were going down towards the Dental Hut. In fact all Shadowers born in the Camp are offically Pearse people as that's where they were born. They only lived in their respective Barracks thereafter. END OF ARGUMENT!.............. Regards JKelly (Up Pearse)!!!!!
