Hi Tony
I think you might be referring to squatters rights, does not apply her as I think that you have to offer rent etc and it be refused by the land lord for 7 years.
They might be better adopting the approach of mental stress and the trauma that a move like this would cause by such an upheavel. It is not unusual for people to be rehoused where they as total strangers and tossed into an area where living is to say the least hell.
Andy
As you can see we now have a champion in Brendan, Scribe of the mighty Quill and Prose I for one was hoping that he would accept the challange and fair play to him on doing so

Hi All , Great support from all just a few points I am not just putting my own personal situation to the fore I believe that this is about the wider community of the Camp and the consequences that it will have for the future, people, schools shops etc.. I wish to point out that my Father did not get a letter but was told he was going to get one as would everyone else he has left the camp as he did not wish to persue this matter anymore he is getting on in years mind you not to old yet, only one person got one and I think it would be unfair and wrong to give that persons name on a open forum.I do not know this person well enough to approach him and I think he may be also gone. Myself all I can do is contact local politicians and inform them what is happening and seek their views. Maybe we can all enquire of these people and see what they have to say. I'm sure as with all politics one Dept does not know what the other is doing. I myself have no Faith in the church as an establisment but those who do could contact the Priests in the Camp and tell them what may be happening to their people and make representations. For now thanks I passed on to My Dad all that has been said and for the first time in over a month I seen a smile

Hi Tommy
Completely understand your stance on the subject, but here is the crux of the matter no visible evidence to support the cause.
Have sent a cúpla feelers to some of our elected bods as there details are in center of the phone book just general questions on the rumor I have picked up about possible evictions Camp
I feel that this should now be taken out of the realm of the site and done through our personal e-mail address's if a campaign is to ensue

One final point
this is a rather complex issue as there are several different catagories of overholders involved all with different circumstances

hi All:
I've contacted the Dept. of Defence (phone and email) for information pertaining to the eviction notices. I won't hold my breath for too long. In the interim, we can send emails to the local TD's as a start, but without specifics they'll do what politicians do best. BS us to death!
Let's NOT give up hope for a better future for the CAMP.
Regards,
Brendan

Hi All,
I contacted the Dept of Defence and surprisingly they responded rather quickly. Unfortunately they did not give me any details regarding the eviction notice. He asked that I call and speak to him so he can determine what my “interest” is in the notice. I called twice and got his voicemail. I don’t expect him to call New York so I’ll try again tomorrow. I did however indicate in my email that I am a concerned citizen and former Curragh resident, which means little. It is what I am.
I understand the frustration that many of the residents feel dealing with the bureaucratic process. We will and should persevere until we get answers. Please keep plugging away at our “elected” officials.
I’ll keep you posted.
Brendan

Brendan You are on the ball, I have noticed that the only time those in power move fast is when submitting expenses or at a free bar,
Mayor of Longford 40 grand a year 17 grand and a bit salary and 196 a week sick benefit reported in the Daily Star today

Hi All,
Thank you to Brendan for taking the support of our people on board, it makes it just a little bit easier when you know who/what you are dealing with and what avenues to go through. I once worked for the Head of the Paid Service for a large Local Authority here in the UK and whenever people were at the wits end, not knowing what to do next about their problem, they always came through to me as the Chief Executive's PA., believe me they got answers to their requests much quicker - always aim at the top.
Anything I can do please let me know.
Kind regards.
Eileen
You have my support
