We lived at No.1 McDonagh Terrace from 1956 to November 1959 . It was the Block facing the Ball Alley . Our Neighbours were the Conways - Danny, Marie and Ena . I think that Ena married Frank Poole who used to work in the Cinema . The Drur's lived there afterwards - Brendan and Jennifer and a younger Sister whose name I can't think of . The Clarkes loived at No.3 . Roy Clarke and Joan . Bill "Busby" Brennan lived at No. 4 and the Harpurs lived at No. 5 . I remember Sean, Joan, Terrie. There were some other children , but I cannot remember their names . The O'Neills lived at No.6 . There was George (R.I.P), Christy, Helen, Kathleen and another Brother Paul R.I.P. . The Ivers Family lived at No.9 and the Heffernans lived at No.10 .

Hi Michael,
I don't remember the Clarkes living in McDonagh, but I do remember them coming back to visit Mam and Dad, we would have been living in B block then, no. 11 beside McCarneys.

Hi Michael, My name is John Joe Curran (JJ). I lived in 15A McDonagh for two years 1957-1959. I believe you, Brendan Drury and I used to pal around together. As I recall Brendan had asthma. He used to be able to tell if a fog was coming down. We had some good fun together playing in the air raid shelter in a place called Dead Mans Valley which was near Ballymany cross. Good to hear from you . I hope you are keeping well. Do you know the whereabouts of Brendan Drury? Regards JJ

Hi Rose,
Nice to hear from you . The Clarke's lived at No.3 C Block . Roy was the eldest and Joan was next . They were living there when we moved to McDonagh in 1956 . I thin k that their Father may have been in the Ordnance Corps . I am not sure .. But I have no recollection as to where they moved to . But it was good to hear that they were back to see your Mother and Father after they left .

Hi John Joe,
Nice to hear from you again after all those years . And yes indeed, I do remember you well . I hope that life has been good to you down through the Years . I am living in Kildare Town, and I am still working with the Dept of Defence in the Curragh at the Base vehichle Workshops . Where are you living yourself ? If I remember rightly, your House was very near the end of the Block We also used to pal around Joe Donohue . I met him a few Months ago, and he is keeping well . We keep in touch at Christmas time every year . I think that he had 3 other Brothers - Pat , Gerard and Pearse . He also had a Sister , but I cannot remember her name . His Father was a Sergeant in the Depot Signals in Ceannt Barracks . And regarding Brendan Drury - I think that he went to England with Patsy WEhye and a few others from the Curragh in the Late 60's or early 70's . His Father Joe was a Tailor in the Military College . He came from Ardfert in Co. kerry and every year his Father used to take him to the All-Ireland football Final as more often than not, Keryy would be in the Final . And as you say, he did suffer very badly with Asthma . I have very fond memories of living in McDonagh . It is nice to hear from you again . Take care . regards, Michael
