Hi Andy Would not know where to start with trying to give up something for the new year. Did give up the smokes for 2yrs once but piled on the pounds so knocked that one on head. Gave up the cursing but that lasted about an hour, Gave up getting mad at the kids lasted about 10 Minutes The list could go on but wont bore you or the readers so in the end i gave up giving up so my new years resolution every year is the same never give up something that makes you happy life's to short.

Hi Geraldine
The secret is trying, and not doing it on new years day when a cure is a must same as the fag is for the smoker nothing easy and piling on the stones never mind pounds that is a bugger, getting rid of them is hard ,I think I will have a go at that , if I succeed fine if not there is always next year took me 40 years to get finally off the fags after many a Lent and new year effort' I take it you dispensed the missing xmas pressies

Hi Andy Well done you on quitting the fags you must have plenty of will power one thing i haven't got and as for the dieting no chance i always have good intentions every Monday morning i start my [sea food] diet only trouble is i [see food ]i eat it. Yes i retrieved the presents all went well so just to make myself feel better had a little shopping spree yesterday in the white water has to be done think i might have seen you there you must have been spending all your well saved fag money.

To all on the Curragh Forum, we wish you a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year. This Forum goes from strength to strength and the forming of Platoons is fantastic. Don't know whether we have enough personnel in the Philippines to do so, but you never know, we might get a 'section' together.
warmest regards to you all
Louis, Marylou, Shane and Darren Parminter (sitting under the mango Tree!!)

Hi to all. While not wishing to put a damper on everybodys celebrations I for one will not be sorry to see th end of 2009. Some of you may remember that on Jan 1st 2009 I buried my son Liam. On the last day of 2009 my wife suffered a stroke. Yesterday. This is one year that I will never forget for the rest of my life, even if it is for all the wrong reasons. Can 2010 be any worse? Even so, I would like to thank all the members of this site for all the pleasure I recieved from reading all the posts, even if I am not a Curragh Native. A special word of thanks to Tommy Hetherington for a most memorable day during the "summer" when I was treated to a tour of the camp. I would like to wish all members of the site a very happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year and keep the posts coming.

Hi Ger and all, You are not the only one who had a heavy night I'm here at work trying to remember last night or should I say last year, I'm so glad I gave my car to my boss and she picked me up for work as there is no way I could drive. I also didn't wake up till 6.30 and the first thing I though is Oh my God I'll have to go to work with no make up on, but my saving grace is my boss was late Hallelujah!!! I'm now here with my water and black coffee and a little light headed but only myself to blame. But I think I had a good night and have to stay from the patients for a couple of hours. Well Happy New Year to you all.
Cheers Mary C

Mary C, Ah just like a soldier, you still made it for duty! Good on you and all the best to the Morden Platoon! Last night as wild in my neighbourhood with fireworks exploding by the hundreds for well over two hours...I watched them all with a fully charged glass in my hand at all times of course, could not let the side down!!

New Year's Resolutions!!!! I've made so many and never managed to keep them. I've now decided to just take each day at a time and see what happens - I guess that is kind of a resulation.
