Moving to the park
Civilians and family’s living in the camp will be a thing of the pass. With little work being done to up keep the quarters, well what’s left of them. Orchard Park will be the last stand for the Curragh families, I remember the day we got the key for 19 orchard park, everyone got their key the same day and it was like the The Charge of the Light Brigade with prams and trolleys get your stuff into the house before someone else took it. I think there were a few rows over who should have got the houses. There was a inside toilet with a bath and three bedrooms it was a mansion for a family of ten. I rem we lived in number 12 mam still there i think it was 1972 i rem running around the house to see which bedroom to sleep in ended up in the back room unlucky for the lads they got the boxroom .The stairs was like a new toy we must have ran up and down it a100 times that day .And the bath was great [our bathroom no more queing for the bath house in ceannt with our white army towels and carbolick soap] a lot of happy times back then if we could only turn the clock back
