Hi my name is frances murray, I lived in the curragh camp for 11 years and left in May 1974. I lived in 28 eamonn ceannt when i was 11 years. I left friends of mine, eg, Mary Tobin, Veronica Farrell, Pauline Rooney, etc, and I always wondered what became of them.... I was heartbroken when we left, I visited the curragh camp for the first time 2 days ago, for the first time since we moved, and found it very emotional to see the the church where I made my first communion, my school, library and the fire station were just as I remembered them.... Even powers shop (altho closed down now) where I got my first 2 wheeled bike is still there opposite the post office.... I could not find the house I lived in though, and I wonder was it demolished, and if so when?? My father who sadly has since passed away, was a sargeant and I think his number was 814082, and we lived in 28 ceannt tce from 16 march 1967 to 29 may 1974, what quarters we lived in previous to that, I cant recollect...... If you could find out anything about my time there, I would appreciate it.....

Hi Frances, Welcome to the site hope you manage to get in contact with some of the girls you're looking for. I see Tony has been able to help you with your old no.27E Ceannt. If you click onto the links Tony gave you you'll find that prior to 1967 ye lived at no 25 Plunket from 25/6/64 till 16/3/67, sorry I can't be of any more help but I'm sure one of the others might be able to fill in some more of the pieces for you.The very best of luck. Hi Frances Your Dad 814082 Served in Transport, he lived in Married Quarters No 25 Plunkett from 25/6/64 to 16/3/67 and then No 27 E Ceannt from 16/3/67 to 29/5/74, as he was in Transport he may have lived in Clarke barracks at some stage, and as Clarke Md Querters is not completed and posted on this site, it would be hard to complete your request, at this stage, however keep looking in, he did not live in any other Quarters other than those above, and again possibly in Clarke. I know that Mary Tobin is married and living in Limerick, will try and get a contact for you. Best wishes JKelly

On the subject of Married Quarters, I have converted Tom Sweeney's great efforts into Excel format, and one can easily find any persons by using the Find method, it takes a lot of work out of the search and anyone requesting same, I will gladly forward onto them. Regards JKelly

Hi Ya Folks,
Nice to see all are well and posting have been busy and then got a dose of cold/flu don't know which but it knocked me for six, plenty of hot whiskeys, early to bed helped, glad to see you all had a good night in Ceannt (without me boo hoo).
Yes Maureen O'Brien did live in 14 McDonagh with her brother Willie who posts on this site and her sister Breda. Willie is now living in England.
Rose.
