Hi to all,
I don't know how many of the forum members are left handed, but I am and can remember at school being treated as if you had an affliction, always being called cack handed. I remember being told that the left hand was the wrong hand and I should use the right one, being slapped on the left hand and told to put it behind my back when I was writing. I just ignored what they said and carried on writing with my left hand much to their dismay, it hasn't hampered me at all in my life and can say that I'm proud that my talented daughter is also left handed.
Let me know your thoughts on this subject.
Best wishes.
Eileen

Hi Eilleenmarie,
There is a school of thought that those born citóog are a very artistic crowd,
My daddy was one such and due to the corrections of his teachers he became very adept with either hand. aAways somebody t tell you your not doing it right, what they mean is not their way, even though the result is the same

HI, Eileenmarie,
Iam not left handed but I could imagine what it could do to your confidence to have a teacher bully you into writing with the right hand, Some of the people i have come across (left handed that is) have beautiful handwriting and are in my opinion no different to anyone else. like you I have a daughter who is left handed and it has certainly not held her back in anyway its amazing how backward some people were years ago thankfully i think we have moved on now.

Hi Eileen, Andy and TommyS,
A great thread and talking point, I am left handed and fortunately I never had any hassle in school or throughout my life being so. I have often heard stories like the one Eileen tells, sad I know but as Andy wrote, with some people if you don't do a thing their way, it is the wrong way. TommyS is your daughter who is left handed good at KNITTING? a lot of us left handed people are very artistic.

Helena,
Poor Nigel must be growing out of his hundred jumpers you knitted for him over the years, I think its time you logged on and earned your promotion ,I could think of a few user names, pearl or dropped stitch,or something like that .
P.S. i hope you signed up for the shadower's meeting Saturday

Hi all I was unfortunate when going to school to have been left handed, unfortunate because anyone with such an affliction was totally frowned upon and given all sorts of punishment, the many cracks across the knuckles and so on, however it only served to help my cause as I am equally adept now with both hands. The only things that I cannot do now is use a Golf Club, I use the Hurlers grip,I cannot use a knife and Fork in the proper hands, and always got up on a bicycle on the wrong side, since I left school no one has ever commented on any of these issues and I never cared. I have been told that I am artistic, but I never tried the knitting. Regards JKelly
