Hi All,
Mam saved up for me, don't know what the going rate at the time was, but Badger Burke collected the fee. Mammies were buying babies, finding them all over the place, taking whatever was on offer boy or girl, and had to spend a week in the families which always puzzled me before they could bring the baby home. Could never figure out why Peg Hayes kept buying boy after boy, when she would say how she would love a girl, why she could'nt wait to go shopping when the Badger had a girl was beyond me.
Was probably thinking the same when I was twelve, if anything of any kind of a sexual nature came on the telly and there was nothing too explicit on then it was switched off, and no one was being sat down and told about the birds and the bees. We all seemed to muddle along and find out for ourselves, does'nt seem to have done us any harm.
Cheers,
Rose.
