No one mentioned the Wren Boys.
Were they out in full regaelia like we used to do - improvising with the raggiest clothes we could lay our hands on, the old straw or felt hat and blackened face, or is this a thing of the past when us kids seized every opportunity to be the first getting house to house for penny or two. By the end of the day hoarse from singing.........or grunting, our Wren Boy Diddo's whatever the case may be and alas while it should be etched into long term memory :(The old fuse box can only recall the first few lines nowdays. The Wren, the Wren the King of all birds, St Stephen's Day was caught in the furze, Although he is little, his family is great, I pray you good landlady, give us a treat.

Hi Kentgal,
Alas afraid the old customs are fading away not a wren to be seeing was chatting to a few bods over the Xmas about same and they were saying 500 notes could be made on that day per person one for the apprentice maybe,
Last person I remember doing it was Paddy McCormack and his troubadors
