:)My father GRANVILLE STANLEY served in the Highland Light Infantry and we have three photos of hin as a private, a corporal and a staff sargeant all taken at a studio in Dublin between 1916 and his departure for Germany in 1918. We think he was a machine gunnere instructor and probably based at the Curragh. Because many of the WW1 British Army resords were lost in a fire during the London blitz in WW2 we can find no details of his service. I am hoping that there is something in the Republic that will help me find the details of his service over there.
