Can anyone remember Paul Golden the hypnotist who used to have a stage show that used to visit the old curragh cinema, I believe it was around the late 50s. He had people running all over the place looking for leprechauns. We used to have a talent show as well I remember a young Pat Bolger from McDonagh singing "I want to be your teddy bear"[Elvis]

Can't say I rem Paul Golden, bit before my time. I do rem the tallent shows though,in particular the one where Koe Wheelan played Frank Spencer. Just another example of how well the community worked together. I also rem the time Eugene Lambert played in the gym with the wonderly wagon show, exciting times!!

Re Paul Golden. I remember Paul Goldin in The Curragh Cinema, He Hypnotised John Cafferey one night and had him thinking that he had just caught a Lepracaun who was going to give him a Pot of Gold, everytime Paul clicked his fingers John would run around the Cinema like a scalded cat. I also remember the George Daniels shows staged in the Curragh Cinema, (pre Paul Goldin). They parked their caravans on the green in front of Centra (O Donnells at the time) They had a bulldog guarding the place, It was my first incursion with a Bulldog, I still have the scars on my arm to prove it. Can anyone help me here, I have tried unsuccessfully to join the forum but cannot get a password, Matt are you reading me.

I can remember Paul Golden the hypnotist coming to the Dublin Boxing Stadium South Circular Rd and ended up causing mayhem when he mass hypnotised a considerable number of the audience. Likewise they to were on a quest looking for Leprechauns, caused a major traffic jam, jumping on and off buses in and out of Taxi's and in one case a fellow entered a taxi via one rear door crossed over the two passengers seated in the rear of the cab and exited out of the opposite door! The Garda had to request that he never performed the same act as that ever again!

Yes, I too remember Paul Golden coming to "The Royal Cinema"in Roscommon. He used to ask the audence to clasp their hands behind the heads and if they could not release them , he would invite them on stage. He got them eating onions believing them to be apples. He was a very exiting act and had the whole town eager to see him. I remember it was early '50.

Hi everyone, I remember Paul Golden coming to Keadeen in 1979 or 80, he was excellent, he gave all the audience a questionaire to fill out with their names and addresses and hand them back, they had different symbols on them and we had to mark which symbols attracted us most, he was absolutely spot on with the answer to me, only trouble was I didnt believe it for years.

I found this thread while Google searching Paul Goldin. I heard his name in this interview with Irish mystic/philosopher John Moriarty: youtube.com/watch?v=JnFgOhxj2nM&feature=sharesThought I’d share for the benefit of those interested…if anyone still accessed this thread. Moriarty mentions Goldin within the first 10 minutes of the interview.

Hi. I remember well, Paul Golden in the cinema on the Curragh. I especially remember one Sunday afternoon when a young lady, while hypnotized, was told by Mr Golden, that when he clicks his fingers she will wake and declare her love for him by saying to the audience "Oh Paul, darling I love you" and she did. Paul Golden didn't know that this lovely lady (whose name escapes me at the moment) was very taken by my good friend Paul Darling. A very entertaining response from the audience indeed.
