I have recently run into some of the lads contemplating going on their ticket. A small piece of advice to them.
1 try to do a pre retirement course before leaving,
2 read all available information regarding social welfare applicable to you.
3 Sort your affairs with Revenue (Tax) man simplest is to go to Tallagh The Square Revenue Office on the corner beside Argos Shop, Staff there are very helpful

Hi Andy Good advice on what to do but i think they would be crazy to leave there is nothing out there job wise if they could they should stay as long as they can its the best job around, my other half left after 9 years and he says its the worst thing he ever done he regrets it to this day my son joined the army last year i hope he sticks at it longer than his dad did. Sorry Ger,
I am really aiming this advice at those who are approaching retirement on Pension and approaching age 60. If they do not keep up their credits then they could lose part or all of old age pension by not having enough contributions.
Maybe it might not matter as the goal posts are being shifted daily but why take a chance.
I agree anyone in service should hang in there.
Andy
