With this time once again let us not have it ruined or our families due to lack of personnel security some of the following can be avoided. Ladies your trusted friend the handbag over and around your shoulders under your coat if possible and not around the shopping trolley a missing bag very upsetting. When drawing the few bob for the pressies bank or credit union applies to all sexes before leaving counter secure it on your person as a lot of others would not mind spending it for you. The shopping and the pressies lock them in the boot of the car if driving out of sight out of mind different meaning here,
going out for the night leave a few lights on and T.V not forgetting the alarm if you have one. and be careful at cash points and of whom may be close to you just a few things I have noticed when about, give the thief as little help as possible
I'm sure wiser members can add other observations without turning this into crime line

Hi Andy and all, A sad but oh so true state of affairs that your reminder is needed so thanks for the timely advice. You gents try putting your wallets in a shirt pocket with button or a zip or in your front trouser/jeans pockets because its so easy for thieves to slip them out unnoticed from the back pocket. And try not to give away where we've got our money when we're out, because if theres an announcement or a sign about pickpockets our first instinct is to pat the pocket or place we've got them, making it so much easier for them. Another one is don't take the mobile phone out to check if you're asked the time [out of your hand and gone in a second] and if you are on a contract the bill can run into hundreds in a few hours Its an idea to keep some change in a pocket to give to genuine collections don't take the purse or wallet out for those hard look stories who approach you in the street , same thing to easy to snatch from your hand . As Andy said we don't want this festive time ruined for our families. As they used to say on the hill street blues 'be careful out there' Best Regards MaryF

Hi Mary&Andy. Good advice a few years ago my Wife and me went to the Irish Festival in Roundwood Park its no longer held there. We went into the beer tent and i had the wad in the back pocket of my jeans.I was unaware a friend of mine was at the bar but was observing this young man dipping into my back pocket.I was made aware of it with a tap on the shoulder and the greeting hello Tony i would like to introduce to a new friend he has been try to pick your back pocket. He had this lad in a firm grip and we informed the police and he was taken away in the P/van.He was a member of our Irish traveling families out for rich pickings on the day I was so glad that my good friend Tom Dempsey had seen him or it would have spoil the day to the tune of £120=00 By the way just wondering have any of you ever went to that Festival in Roundwood Park? I also met one of the Corporals that day who trained my platoon in Mcdonagh Bk's his name is John Broderick and was from Kilkenny and now lives in Wembley.Lucky escape and told off by the Mrs Regards. Hi Anthony, Yes those pigeons are greedy beggers but also dirty ones, so I wouldn't go eating any no matter how much you clean them I just couldn't eat one. You'll have to get rid of that neighbour watch they didn't help, why don't you try bird watch. Ha Glad to see I'm not the only person on the site this time of night.
Cheers Mary C

Hi Ladies in particular,
When using toilet facilities don't leave your hand bag on the floor, was in a fast food outlet on O'Connell Street three Chrsitmas's ago and a lady who was in mid flow saw a hand come under the partition and snatch her bag, by the time she had covered her modesty the thief was well gone.
Rose.
