I think I am the only person from the Curragh on the Aer Lingus Flight which was hijacked by the Mad Monk who was introduced by the captain with these words " There is a gentleman on board who wishs to go to Tehran," 1981 was the year a turbulent one, Bobby Sande's Died that day and the Ayatollah took over power in Iran, all on reeling in the years which is repeated on RTE , My wife mother in-law and sister in law were on board , also Harry Crosby of the Point Depot , and a chap from Naas whom I do not remember

Hi Andy. That must have been a frightening experience for you and all your family.I'm sure the memories of this is terrible for you. I had my own sadness on hearing a distance Cousin of mine was killed on Sept 11 when the planes crashed into the twin towers New York. His name was John Erwin aged 31 who worked on the top floor. His Grandfather came from Waddingsland Kilrane Co Wexford. I would find it hard to print how i feel about people who carry such acts of violence and terror. Bye for now Anthony

I am afraid violence is everywhere and ever growing. A neighbour of mine called James Martin Quigley (Filipino grandson of an Irishman that came to live in the Philippines and with a name like Quigley probably with some cousins at some time in the Curragh) was shot dead leaving our subdivision last weekend. James was 37 and in the Telecoms industry. He was shot 7 times with a .45 whilst driving his car and was then robbed and his own Gloch pistol also stolen from the car. My security staff immediately went to his assistance but he died before reaching hospital. His 'shooter' was caught later in their getaway vehicle and on being questioned by the prosecutor stated that he did not intend to kill James!!!!
