Hello Rose,
Thank you for your response. Yes Bill O'Brien is my Dad, sadly both my parents passed away many years ago.
My sister Kathy has now registered as she is the one with the good memory and can recall lots of happy times living in McDonagh.
Best wishes.
Eileen

Hi Eileen,
Yes I remember your family and your Mam and Dad RIP. There were three families of O'Briens in McDonagh two in B block yourselves and Johnny and in A block Mick. How old were you when your family left the Curragh I think you may have been early teens were you? Did ye leave in about 68/69?
Rose.

Hello again Rose,
You are so correct - we went to England in 1969 - what a good memory you have.
I lived in England until 1986 then went off 'down under' and lived in Perth and Sydney for over 17 years. Am now back living in the UK in a tiny market town called Olney in Buckinghamshire which is lovely, especially this time of year.
I have one daughter who is at University studying to be a fashion designer.
I have been reminising with my sister Kathy about our time in the Curragh and can remember the Children's Party held every Christmas by the Army. Each year we got to watch a Laurel & Hardy film and got a present from Santa. Do you remember these??
Best wishes.
Eileen

Hi Kathyo, You were asking Rose of my Mother Pat Harpur, Mam died from Cancer in 98 she was 49 at the time and is eleven years dead this month. Nice of you to ask of her after what I would guess is many years.
Kind Regards Tommy Hetherington

Hi Kathleen,
Lovely to hear from you, since you left McDonagh we lost Pat, Phil Ambrose, Ann Ivers, Nicholas Harpur, Paul Fogarty, Declan Hayes, George O'Neill, Paul O'Neill, Fuddy Heffernan and Dympie Gorman All long before their time may they rest in peace.
Margaret Gorman is living in Dublin, Lil and Marie still around and Laurence I think Joe is also living in Dublin and as I said Dympie passed away three years ago. Kathleen O'Niell is now living in Nurney myself and Monica always in contact with Helen and Kathleen. Helen lives in Newbridge, Christy (Gick) in Rathangan, Paul and George gone to their rest, Anna in Newbridge and Paddy in England.
The one thing I especially remember about your family was the lovely sallow skin taken from your Dad.
Will tell Kathleen you have been in contact.
Regards,
Rose.

Hi Eileen,
Yes I remember the Christmas Parties very well and the Laurel and Hardy films do you remember we called them Fatty and Skinny. The Christmas party was the high light of the year, the excitement on the run up to it. Happy Days.
Regards,
Rose.
