Hi Matt,
Enjoyed the clip my own Dad was on a tour of duty there at that time, it seemed to me, then aged nine, that he was on the other side of the world, don't remember having even heard of Cyprus before that and here we are now, think nothing of booking a week online and heading off to Cyprus for a week, the world has become a lot smaller since then. The Da loved his two tours of duty there, the country and the people.

Hi Kaytho,
I do remember the cushion covers, coffee sets, pencil cases, dressing gowns, wooden covered prayer books etc., with the map of Cyprus and Nicosia really stands out in my mind. The presents from there were much better than the Congo. Am sure you will enjoy your trip to Cyprus and see all the places that we had never heard of until the Dad's went on peacekeeping missions, am sure it will bring back lots of memories.
Keep well.
Rose.

Hi Rose, welcome home, not sure that I agree that the pressies from Cyprus were better then the ones from the Congo,
To me the Congo was best great weapons for lads to play with Bows, arrows, carved animals in ebony and ivory the pity of it is they are no longer in my possession. Strange fags and booze, perhaps Cyprus better in that department.
