Hi Matt, Great photos a lot of history woven in those pictures, wouldn't it be lovely if someone out there could add some info i.e. year, names, occcasion {love the one where their all jumping about obviously celebrating something wonder what?] same goes for all the other photos it's great to browse through them, would be so fantastic to have a little bit of knowledge about them as we do. So if anyone can provide an insight into them that'd be just great and so very welcome. Once again Matt thanks for yet another wonderful glimpse at our past. Bye For Now MaryF

Hi Mary
It is great to look back at the photographs, unfortunately I don’t have much information on the older photos, but the one you mention was taken in about 1986/7 and was the 1st Cavalry Sqn from Fermoy on the Curragh ranges when they won the falling plates competition in the All Army Shoot.
I like the group photographs and hope that somebody will recognise their Father or maybe their Grandfather or even old friends as I always get e-mails requesting photographs going back years.
The photos of the Newbridge parades are also great and are a glimpse of a time gone by. I would love to see the Comet Tanks driving up the main street on Newbridge now in all their glory, they use to frighten the life out of me as a kid living on O’Higgind Tce in the 70’s. My mother had a great story about how I gave some visiting dignitaries to the Cavalry Workshops a “Salute” of sorts when they fired up the Comets. I think the less said about that, the better ;D My Father nearly got his ticket ;D
All the best
Matt

Hi Matt, have to agree with MaryF, great pictures of Cavalry Corps. Too young to recognise a lot of them, but somebody will know a lot of personell in the pictures, so lets hear from them! Regards, Anne.

Hi Matt and Dan, Great to have that info on the photos from both of you, gives it that little bit more of added interest, every picture really does tell its own story. It'd be lovely to know who everyone is but I know thats not possible so its really lovely when someone can provide even the smallest bit of information. The ones of the parade in Newbridge are really poignant for me because somewhere in the crowd in 1975 in front of Tuthills was a young me . I used to love the parades and still remember the enormous feeling of pride of being from the Curragh as we watched the lads drive past. Matt are you sure it wasn't the victory salute you were giving? Bye For Now MaryF

Hi Matt, just thinking if you do get your wish of seeing the Comet Tanks parading up Main Street Newbridge. Will you make sure you keep your trousers on Anne.

Hi Anne, The plot thickens over the Comet tanks methinks Matt only gave us the 'watered'down version of the story. Do tell us more Anne Pleeeeeese. Sounds like it could go down in our folklore along with Matt's pants??? I'm intrigued and beginning to wonder exactly what kind of salute was given!!! ;D MaryF
