The death has taken place of an old neighbour of ours from O’Higgins Tce. Al Stacey from what I can remember as a youngster growing up on the terrace was a nice kind man. His family were a credit to him and his wife. Al I believe was a Calvary Man during his time in the Army. His funeral details are as follows.
Late of O'Higgins Tce, The Curragh. Reposing at his residence from 2pm on Saturday. Removal on Sunday evening at 5.30pm, arriving at St. Brigid's Church, the Curragh, at 6pm. Funeral on Monday, after 10am Mass, to St. Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge.
Matt

Hi Matt. I am filled with sadness to hear of the death of Al Stacey.I remember him well and worked with him many times in the dining hall in Plunkett where he was dining hall Sgt.The dining hall at Plunkett was huge and many of the other barracks dined there in the 60s.I remember telling him about how good spud Murphy was on the drums and he said i can drum a bit too.He then started to drum with his fingers on the chrome worktop the movement was amazing. When you got to know him he had a great sense of humour And I'm glad to have know such a lovely man.I would like to offer my condolences to his family for their great loss.
Bye for now. Anthony.

Hi All, Just to comment on the recent death of Al Stacey (RIP).
I have know Al since I was a child living in Plunkett Qtrs the block nearest the Wet Canteen. Al and Shiela lived above us and Shiela stayed up with my mother Dolly when I was about to come into the world in 1950. I spent the first seven years living in that block in Plunkett and grew up with Jerry, I even have a scar on my nose where Jerry sculled me with a slate in 1957, outside the Old Church at O' Higgins Tce. (A misadventure) Al and Shiela as long as I know them, were kind gentle people, without a bad word to say to anyone, as indeed are all of the Stacey Family. To the Stacey Family my sincere Condolences and Sympathy for your irreplaceable loss.

In Sympathy
