Re:THE LATE DERMOT EARLY SNR. The sad passing of The former Chief of Staff Brig Gen Dermot Early Snr, brings an end to one of our countrys great sportsmen of our lifetime, having met the man as a very young recruit,in 1968 him being my Platoon Officer, and served with him in the Gym as members of staff, He was always a joy to behold and a pleasure to work with, both as an officer and a sportsman having played on numerous teams when we both represented the GTD in various sports in the Army he could give an inspireing team talk that would bring poor players well above their standard of ability, a brilliant sportsman AN Excellant Officer and a true and genuine Gentleman, To His Family my deepest sympathy and may He Rest In Peace. My condolences to the Earley family at this sad time.
A great loss of a man who was real inspiration to anybody who knew him or served under him in the Defence Forces. He had a lot more to give, but sadly his life was cut short.
