Pat departed this life over the weekend, a shock to me.
He served in the 3rd Bn many will know and remember him. He was married to Mae Johnston and had two children Ian and Lisa, they lived in Suncroft. Pat was a minister for welcome in the church here among other duties he performed for the church. He also dedicated a large amount of his time to the U.N vets especially Post 11 here. He will be sadly missed not only by his family but the community and his comrades in the Post 11. Many of his comrades from that Post here in Suncroft have pre deceased him and I would like to mention their names all good people. Phillip Murphy Pat Roche Liam Murphy Tom Baird Sean Clarke and Pat all lived within yards of each other at some time or other here. but their loss is without doubt a major loss to their families and the community. If I have omitted any one I apologies .
The esteem in which all were held was evident by the attendance of family, relations, friends and comrades. may they all Rest In Peace.

For the first time since we were in the Congo together, I met Pat and Mae in Suncroft a few months before Pat's Death. The photographs I had promised to send, arrived too late for Pat to enjoy. For the few people who might not have known the ' Real Pat Farrell.' I can only speak for the period we served together in the Congo 1963/64. He was an excellent soldier in every aspect of his character. Reliable, trustworthy and always willing to a fault, to do his duty without question. His wife and children can be rightly 'proud' of him, as I am proud to have known him. My condolences to all his family and close friend. It is certain! he has gone to a nice place-----------Edmund
