:oHi Eddie thanks for reminding everyone about this little gem. I must be something to remember being privy to that fight, there was a rumour going around that there had been a fight between the two of them. I can remember when i was in Forth Class Bob Forde was my teacher at the time Butt Mac knocking at glass panel in the door Bob stepped outside and was raised voices between them. The amazing thing was that the two of them were neighbours for years right up until theyboth retired. Sean Tracey

What I can remember about school on the Camp was we used to buy our nips and blotting paper from Butt's room in 6th class. That applied for all classes except when in 4th Class.Bob Forde would sell us the same items and go mad if any of his class bought from his next door neighbour. They hated one another.Anybody know how their wives got on together. Were they allowed to talk to one another?

Ah what did you say you codger. Come up here for your pennys worth of snuff. These words from Bob Forde meant only one thing that your hands would be sore for a while ouch. However i cant say if ther wives hated each other. One good thing about being in Bobs class we all got turns to go out for his Buttermilk every day Yuk . Sean Tracey

Hi All,
In the girls school, Mrs. McCormack, Peggy Lawlor and Mrs. Collins usually for want of a better word hung out together at break time. Mrs. Fordes classroom was right beside the main entrance, if memory serves me right she usually stayed in the room during break. May have just been the way she did things who knows, am wondering now if she and Mrs. McCormack spoke to one another, will have to try and get to the bottom of this. Lunch time would not have been a problem as I think they all went home, know Peggy drove her little grey Wolsey back to Newbridge at 12.30 every day, Mrs. Forde had a bicycle and don't remember what Mrs. McCormack used for wheels.
Rose.

Rose,
As already stated I am not the brightest star in the heavens, but are the lady teachers you speak of the spouses of the same teachers in the boys school,
God am I dense

Re:FIGHT IN THE CORRIDOOR Hi all refrence the fight in the corridoor i remember it well as we were in 6th class when Butt being the junior man on the interview and Bob Ford being the hot favourite for the post of Headmaster in the boys school, and when the results were announcedthe best of neighbours and friends fell out bitterly and as Joe Murray stated we had to pay for ink blotting paper and pen nibs, all bought from ButtMccormack, but Bob Forde started selling ink etc, and there was a clash in Bob Fordes class room when Bob refused to send his class into Butts for singing class and Butt got flung out of Bobs class room and then Bob took the door off the hinges with a slamming close of the door and went outside to have a slagging match in the corridoor, resulting in Butt taking the day off school, and since that day both walked down to school on oppisite sides of the road never to speak again , and a sfor the Wives they were both nice ladies and kept themselves to themselves and it must of being hard on them not being able to speak to one another in work and at home, Even Darkie Mooney the big black dog went into hiding when the two men passed by each day, Johnny
