Hi Con, Glad to see you got this posted. As you know myself and Mag will be joining forces and arriving together. MaryC will be hotfooting it in from her neck of the woods as well Great news indeed Trish and Marie Synnott (who I may add helped come up the venue) will be joining us for the very first time! All the way down from the midlands(a fair old treak) so looking forward to seeing them. Also Kathleen Mc Donald(Hospital)is hoping to make it on the day as well. So all in all it should be a good day I for one am really looking forward to it and you never know who else might turn up. I know of at least three more Curragh girls who are dying to come along but had prior family celebrations on the day but,are hoping we will arrange another one in the near future. Roll on Saturday looking forward to catching/meeting up with all my lovely Curragh friends. A day to look forward to. Regards to all MaryF

Hi Andy, In answer to your question.
Wont be able to make the the gathering of the Morden Platoon in London today. was promised a lift and dropped at the door but the job was called off. ok if I could drive, walking and me don't agree, still not recovered from the last stroke I had, right leg moves when it wants to cant depend on it moving when it should, going round in circles springs to mind, I refuse to use a stick.
I wish all you good folk a very nice day, if my ears get hot well I will know I am not been forgotten ha ha.
I will look forward to seeing some photos with big smiles. All who are traveling have a safe journey.
Raise your glasses in memory of those that lost their lives while serving overseas and a special mention to those MIA.
Ned,

Morning all, Well the much awaited meeting at Waxy o Connors was a roaring success. It was a great craic, that started at 2pm and eventually had to be reluctantly called to a halt just before 10pm!!! So that we could all wind our weary way home. But one things for sure we all went away with a smile on our faces and feeling that little bit richer having spent the day in the company of some great Curragh people. Who we all agreed how fortunate we were to have grown up there, and that upbringing had equipped and prepared us for all we were faced with as we made our way in the world. The one thing everyone was adamant about was we really must meet up more often. Maybe once every 6-8weeks. And advertise it to a wider audience. I'm sure there must be loads more Curragh lads and lasses over here who'd love to come if they knew. Todays new faces were Trisha and Marie Synnott(Ceannt) Kathleen McDonald (hospital grounds, Maxi's daughter) and her friend who has no connection with the Curragh but said she loved every minute and will definitely come again. As for the venue now that was something else. From the outside looks quite small but once you step inside its like a labyrinth with stairs going up and down rooms leading off rooms. Some big some small. Dancing area, huge screen for sports, four bars and none of then encroaching on each other. Even has its very own authentic Irish confession box (which myself and Mag did try out lol. Have the pictures to prove it but don't know how to put them on here. We'll definitely as a group be going back there. Lets hope next time we'll have even more turn up. Kathy O and Eileen were sadly missed this time. As was poor Mary C who did make the journey but couldn't find us and ended up going home. So disappointed about that. Oh nearly forgot Con(Limerick) has seemingly started a page on FB called Curragh Exiles. The idea being so that more people who want to can get in touch! Enough from me for now. Just letting you know how things went and that a great day was had by one and all. Not to mention more new friendships being bonded. Best Regards MaryF

Hi Sean, yes it is a pity but who knows maybe one day later in the year we might plan a couple of days up your neck of the woods. Does your pub do B+B ? The atmosphere at these gatherings as so relaxed there's no awkward moments or silences. In fact its hard to get a word in edgeways? . That stories and yarns are nonstop and each one opens up even more memories. Everyone just settles into the company and the years fall away its a bit getting into a snug pair of slippers or a comfy dressing gown. All our memories are linked with each other as you well know. A great good humoured craic the banter is second to none. Regards MaryF

Hi Folks, I'm over home for the next two weeks for a happy family occasion. Kathy o Reilly(nee) O Brien whom you all know well is coming over next weekend 1st August with her daughter (who is celebrating her40th) She plans to be in Ceannt mess on the Saturday night. Through lots of different clashing commitments our Morden Platoon haven't managed to meet up for a while We have always said wouldn't it be lovely to have a meeting at home on the Curragh. So as we're both home at the same time we're going to make a night of it, which I'm really looking forward to. So if any of our old and new friends are about it's be grand if ye could pop in. The more the merrier. I know for sure it'll make Kathy's day. She loves her visits home, Regards MaryF

Hi all When I was living in Pearse as a young lad, a chap wh I grew up with Martin Mollah O Halloran who moved to England in the early 60s or thereabouts. Read his story on Facebooks (anyone who lived in the Curragh) to see the tragic results of his life in England. I will do my best to make it up to Ceannt on Saturday Night to renew old and young acquaintances. Regards and Best wishes to you all JoeyK

Hi Joey, I only just read Martin's story on fb. What a terrible life he's had to endure. I do hope he gets the justice he is seeking before its to late. On a lighter note it would be lovely to see you on Saturday if you can make it. Hope life is treating you good. MaryF
