Hi Matt, Joey,And All, You've all probably already heard of this sight www.flickr.com/ which has photos from all over the world. Well I logged in on it and googled in Irish military and came up with some brilliant old photos including 3 of Irish troops in the congo[one with the guys holding a 'bloods' 35, banner]captured in the Katanga 1960 in the old irish set! There are 2 collections by ofarrl which are all military dating right back to the Boer war, just thought ye might be interested in having a look! Also if you put curragh of kildare you'll get some good shots of the graveyard and the outskirts of the camp including several photos of the new sculptures on the roundabout at Ballymany! Some fantastic pictures covering every topic under the sun, hope you find something to interest you Bye for Now MaryF

Hi Joey, I've been on flickr for a couple of hours just on the irish military part some really great pictures covering the Congo, Kosova,Chad,East Timor etc. all the places you boys have served with the U.N. I got to page 140 and stopped in the end because at certain pages you think thats all its moved on to something different but ,if you continue forward past pages of maybe one photographer/event you get on to more of what you're interested in ,its not all in order or sequence but on that particular topic you lads will have a field day picking out known faces and tours of duty. Mixed in with that lot are quite a few photos of the Curragh and a great one of Newbridge Barracks 1900's. Town hall is still the same but everything else on that side of the town has changed so much. Makes you wonder when the town hall was built? MaryF

Hi Joey, So glad you got something from that site, now as you're so good at downloading stuff and being able to transfer it via email or whatever,I'd like you to do something for me if you can. Can you go on to flickr and enter kilcullen in the search engine on the 1st page is a sunset by kckellaher if you click onto that when the picture comes up on the right will be a photo panel showing two photos one of a lighted pumkin the other of the sunset2. click the left arrow and you will come up with the most amazingly haunting and beautifully poignant picture you are ever going to see of the Curragh Plains. Its titled walking the dog and in the foreground is a couple walking, with their dog the plains are covered in a blanket of glistening white snow and the backdrop was a golden/amber very atmospheric sky a complete contrast, and with our beloved water and church tower perfectly silhouetted behind the darkened plantations it has to rate as one of the most perfect pictures of the Curragh I have ever seen! so if you could download and print it for all the forum members to see that would be fantastic :-*and I would be eternally gratefull!! In you I Place my Trust Mr. Kelly MaryF

Hi Maryf I picked up on that photo and have it saved to my collection, unfortunately while Matt is away I cannot get them on site, however I have them saved for future posting, it is indeed a lovely photo and does show the real beauty of the Curragh, there were some really good shots of Kilcullen and Newbridge also, and I have downloaded them. That kc kellaher is a good photographer! I will post to anyone interested on private messages section if requested

Hi Joey, I agree with you Kc Kelleher is a very good photographer and has to be local as the majority of his shots are Curragh,Newbridge,Kilcullen and Athgarvan. I had a Kathleen Kelleher in my class in primary school. The photographers name is Kenneth ring any bells? It certainly sounds very familiar to me but then I don't have the memory of yourself and Rose. MaryF

Hi Andy, I don't think it's Michael Kelliher from the Bush school, maybe I'm wrong but should be able to eliminate him from the picture if you'll pardon the pun! Bye for now Anne.
