Anyone have answers to the following: a) How long has one to be in the Army to qualify for ANY TYPE of pension? (Army or State/Old age)
b) Previously if one left before 21 years they had to agree to 3 years on reserve. Does this clause still exist?
c) Long service presumely = Pension d) Does short service count eg 5; 6; or 7 years?
e) After leaving Army does RESERVE time count?

Reply many years later. Question (a) 21 year Pension Basic going up in increments yearly thereafter to a max of 31 years. The 31 year pension reverts to 21 on reaching the old age pension. Question (b) The reserve is gone. The contract on joining prior to 1994 was for twelve years and operated as follows: Do three years and have the option of signing on and if you left you did nine in reserve if you stayed it was for another three and so on untill 12 years were completed by service or reserve. Question (c) short pension 21 long 31 Question (d) less than 21 no pension Question (e) reserve does not count Hope this helps even after this length of time
