I'm in contact with someone that served with the 33rd Batt ',will ask him to look in and see if he can recognize anyone. Well your collection of photos is something to be proud of. I have been searching for some information for my father who served in B COy 36th Battalion in the Congo. While I have been looking I came across this article: www.irishsoldiers.com/news/2010/pierce.htmIt identifies two of the people from the lower of the two photos above - Lt Kevin Gleeson, centre, with Sgt Hugh Gaynor to his left (the right as you look at the picture). They were sadly both killed at Niemba. The article doesn't identify any other personnel. Hopefully this might assist in identifying more people from the picture. If anyone has anything relating to 36th Battalion deployment it would be good to see, and if anyone knows of anything planed for the 50th anniversary of the 36 Battalion deployment it would also be good to hear. Thanks Russ

Terry , Do I misunderstand you when you say Kilkenny man Dave McGrath lost his life in the Congo. Thankfully Dave is still very much alive. Drylander

Hi im recently looking into my family history. I know some of my relatives were in the congo. Just wondering if anyone out there served with them nd has any stories! any info would be great. Their surname is Hartley. I know they held some form of record at the time for having the most people from one family serve in the army. Also ive heard there was a tv show made about them, not sure if this is true, so any info on this would be fantastic! Thank You Dave Hartley
