As I remember there were Sailors ;)stationed at the Curragh too. Perhaps in Mc Donagh barracks?

Sailors were trained on the Camp in McDonagh, my father was a Sgt., and used to train them, myself and Monica always looked forward to the completion of their training as they usually sent over a pressie for us usually a doll. I can still see them in their navy blue marching on the square.

RE Sailors on the Curragh. As McDonagh was the main training establishment for the army it meant that the Boys From the Navy were always up in the Curragh on various courses. and always stood out in their smart Naval uniforms, and the click click of their foot wear as they marched about the barracks.

There is a picture in Gallery 3 end of course I presume, there are eight sailors in the snap and my Da who was a Cpl then.

to 64Navy trained in the Curragh up to 1967 they then did there NCOs course in Collins Bks Cork for one year after that they did the course in the Naval Base.I was on the first NCOs course in Collins Bks in 1968.I was a sailor then but I began my military with the bloods 3rd Batt 1961
