Great to see post from Peter Farry,He was in the Senior platoon (No 2) when I was in No 4Pln .His story about going over the wall to see Brendan Bowyer and the Royal Showband brings back memories.Several members of our Platoon in our last year also went over wall to see an all girls band called Ivy Benson.During the dance our Platoon officer Dougie McManus spotted several of our lads and immediately rang the barracks,I was the Barrack orderly Corporal and I was woken up by the Orderly Sergeant Mick Gaffney who was also the Armourers Instructor. He went into all the Billets, checked every bed and found many Dummies. The lads who were missing didn't see the outside of the Barracks for the next two weeks. We had Joe Dolan playing at our passing out Dance in 1962.His fee was £30. Brendan Bowyer and his Daughter were back in Naas in the Moate Theatre last week and I heard that he was brilliant. Our Platoon has had reunion every five years since 1984 and our recent one was this year,we have now reduced the interval to two years. I wrote a little booklet for our 50th anniversary of joining the A.A.S. in 2009,I have some copies left and if anyone wants one they may contact me on 086-1544282.They would only be of interest to Platoon Numbers 1 to 6 as the contents apply to the period 1959 to 1962. Regards Paul Connolly

Hi All I was contacted recently by an Ex- Apprentice of the Army Apprentice School Naas, inquiring about his Apprentice Platoon which was designated the 21st Platoon and he served in Naas from 1976-79. He was also inquiring about a book that was published recently which gave an account and history of the Apprentice School and it’s 40 year history. If you can help or indeed have photographs from you time there please do pass them on to me: matt@curragh.infoOr any information about the book. Thanks again Matt
