Hi All I was contacted recently by an Ex- Apprentice of the Army Apprentice School Naas, inquiring about his Apprentice Platoon which was designated the 21st Platoon and he served in Naas from 1976-79. He was also inquiring about a book that was published recently which gave an account and history of the Apprentice School and it’s 40 year history. If you can help or indeed have photographs from you time there please do pass them on to me: matt@curragh.infoOr any information about the book. Thanks again Matt

matt, i made some enquiries from a friend of mine who was in the apprentice school re a book..... the following is the information he gave me... there are two books about the apprentice school, the most recent one which has detailed information was printed in army headguartersand given free to anyone who recently attended a reunion for the apprentice school but is unfortunatly out of print.
the good news is that on the night individuals went away with arms full of same, my friend aquired one copy which is currently being copied by a friend of his who wanted one.if the person who contacted you wants a copy he said he will organise a further copy to be made and between us we can facilitate the enquirer, hope this is of some help
regards boc

just fiddling at the key board to see if their were anything about the army apprentice school and the the no 7 platoon
and who did i find but the the Coronel Blinks himself
You might ask what prompted me to do this. I had a letter from Michael Mick Kelly yesterday in relation to a 50th reunion which is over 12 months away
I would hope to set up a web site for no 7

Hi Michael. I remember some of the lads in the apprentice photos well. Norman Mason,& Charlie Lamb were with me in the 37th batt in Elizabethville in the Congo. Norman gave me a lift on the back of his motorbike manys a night from Dublin after seeing the moth. I also knew john Buckley, Larry Foley,Jimmy Lucy a great footballer for Kerry and his friend pierce Mcgoldrick all great lads. We all played poker together over the week-ends till we had spots before our eyes. Cheers. Ant.

well done lads nice to see a bit of communication amongst ex-apprentices at last,I visited the ould place a few years ago you wouldnt know it, (Sarah Murtaghs should have been preserved as a listed structure), there was a booklet published at the 40th anniversary with all the lists of the classes etc .I think thats what the lads are referring to. Hello to all the lads from the 23rd platoon whereever ye are ,

Hi,
Is there a hard copy or soft copy of Fred O'Donovan's Army Apprentice School accessible for purchase & download? Was there any further material that was published regarding the Army Apprentice School for this time, particularly interested in apprentice class '67 -'70?
Any information would be appreciated.
