Hi all, Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a special celebration for the achievements of a remarkable man..Capt Paddy Butler. Had I or so many of my old team mates have sat back and taken count of how much this man has influenced our lives in such a positive way we would have realized so long ago that we owed him so much.As clearly sounded in the speeches made, Paddy was not simply a brilliant coach but was a mentor for young men. He achieved great success with each team he involved himself with, he coached people to believe in themselves and showed us how to achieve more than most would settle for. Those of you who do not have the pleasure of knowing Paddy, know this, he is directly responsible for many of the Leinster and Irish players finding themselves where they are, this was evident by the messages relayed by them. Many of these players would have loved to attend (and some did) but had commitments ie games on. I know from past posts that there has been occasional negativity towards officers but Paddy was one of few that achieved his rank starting a recruit. Thanks Paddy.

Re;CURRAGH RUGBY CLUB Hi Ken and TommyH Nice words to compliment a true sportsman. I first met Paddy in 1969 i as a very young soldier on my first trip overseas in Cyprus and the first thing that caught my eye was his presence in his younger Army career Paddy was a keen sportsman volleyball boxing and not bad at the swimming. and was an all army PT competetior as well. but he took up the rugby and no wonder he turned out so many good teams in the Curragh rugby club, always a good motivatior helpful and straightened out manys the wayward young man, i am delighted to hear He has been rewarded for his good deeds in the Curragh rugby, he asked for 100% but gave 1000% Johnny
