Hi guys and Niall especially, my name is John Dunne (Some of the lads referred to me a ‘Dunner’) and I was a member of the Ariel FC team from 71-73. I was surprised to find this forum while looking up my time at the Curragh and I was happy to post after seeing the old photos and the fact that a few faces were yet unidentified. I have original copies of two out of the four photos posted and I am in the first three of them. I decided to repost the one below and detail the names. Some are from memory and some were written on the back of the picture. No. 12 is unidentified but he was possibly a young supporter. We won Division 3 Counties cup (3-1 if I remember!) and finished runner-up in the league in our first season. I have a runner-up medal and a cup I may be able to dig out at some time. Nice to hear from you all and goodbye for now.

Well done John,
Although the numbering of individuals in the photo takes a bit of effort it makes it so much easier when identifying the people involved. Thanks for making the effort. While writing this am also waiting for the result of the puskas prize in Zurich.

Puskas prize just announced. Disappointment for Stephanie Roche but to me it was a truly outstanding shot and would have been a most worthy winner.

Woopie, you spotted this week's deliberate error. Of course I wasn't in Zurich but would be available to go if any handy FAI junkets came up. You ask who cares and the obvious answer is Nobody apart from yourself who took the trouble to respond.
Regards,
johnd
