hello all, my dad, served in the Curragh from 1950 to 1956 in the corp of engineers, corp or core? never get that one right, anyhow, just wondering if anyone here has any info from that time or know where pictures might be got, i know its going back a good bit but worth a try, thanks

Hi Tippfan./ Patrick Welcome on board and well done on the Hurling, they got me a good few bob. Having served in Depot Corps of Engineers from 1967 to 1988 I do recall your Dad's name coming up in conversation, I will ask some of the older members of the unit what they know of him, and come back to you later. brendan delaney/ des page/nickey tobin/pascal mc bride/jack connolly harry seymour/jim burke/paul mc manus/froggy sheridan/john ronan barney flanagan/finbar o reilly/larry ryan/johnny tobin/jimmy dylan davy power(rip) eamon nolan/christy cronin. and a young mascot on johnny tobin knee all the lads in the photo had hair a real engineer thing in those days.

dont know whether you heard today of the death of our old adj capt jim foran (rip) his son was a fitter sgt in the bloods if i rembember correctly being enterned in lucan tomorrow

Hi Dan It was with sadness that I learned of the death of JC Foran (Jim) ex Adjt Depot Engineers, May he rest in peace, and my condolences to his family. Jim was very active in the Curragh Camp Credit Union and various movements within the Camp ,when he moved from Lucan to the Camp and will be sadly missed. Regards JKelly

yes joey, i remember jim foran in the credit union.he and your good dad ran it as well if not better than any bank or financial institution in the country.if they were in charge of the irish banking system instead of the "geniuses" who were, we would'nt be the sick man of europe that we currently are.God be good to them both.
