My brother Donal attended the Curragh Boys National School in the early 1960's. Here he is in an early school photograph:

;D ;DCurragh Boys School in the Sixties i remember with great affection. But McCormac swigging whiskey behind the blackboard. The smell of docked fags off of Bushey Costello. Going out at eleven o clock for Bob Fords pint of Buttermilk. Who remembers Buts ability to spot anyone getting up to no good in the playground he seemed to have eyes everywhere. I still remember his ability to inflict pain with that leather of his . Sean Tracey.

Hello Sean, Also do you remember when we were marched to the Church from the School on the last friday of every month for con fession and we all had to go to mass and Holy Commuinion next morning [sat]. On monday morning Bobby Breen went around the Classes and weeded out those poor unfortunate Kids who for one reason or another could not make it to mass. Bobby would line them up along the classroom wall and terrorized them with his Leather. Jim Noone.

:'(Hi Joe . I think we all remember the torture that was inflicted on by those two,but on a personal note i think it was mild to what came to any of us that had the misfortune to be sent to so called Christian Brothers after the Curragh B oys National. There punishment was not only corporal but also psylogical as well. I never did well after the experience. I only did well when i moved here to the U.K. some twenty years ago. These so called Christian Brothers and there assotiated lay teachers were without doubt very cruel..

I remember bob ford and butt mc cormack having a good fist fight in the corridor one day. I think it was because butt had got the job of principal over ford.
