Hi all,
I remember when my brother Martin was christened we had a party at No. 18B Block, all of us kids were sitting on the back steps having lots of red lemonade and biscuits, singing out Martin Benedict, Benny Benny and laughing our heads off!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Oh what fun we had when there were celebrations going on in anyone's house.

I was at two weddings the receptions were held at the houses, one of Mary Phillips RIP sister of Paddy Maginns, and one of the McCusker girls, the parties were brilliant, the one thing I remember is the wooden crates all stacked up in the bit of a porch between the back door and toilet, there was trifle galore in McCuskers, I think they only had about two records and the one I remember most is Dan from Connameara. Myslef and Blaise Phillips spent most of the day Mary got married sitting on their front step eating cake and biscuits, we ran behind Mary and Sambo as they walked up to Donnelly Swifts to have their photographs taken. The Congo parties were also brilliant, plenty of singing and dancing and again loads more crates stacked up, and of course there was always a crate of Mahons red lemonade for the kids.

Hi Rose, I remember a Mrs Farrell who was a friend of my mothers, they moved to Dublin, and i remember going to visit her on my first communion, I'm not sure about Brendan the name is not familiar, i know there was an Eileen, Carmel, nuala and dominic, i don't know if they are the same family , i wonder is Mary Farrell related to these Farrell's, there was another Farrell who was a friend of my fathers who went to england before my father went there, don't remember much about him, i wish i had your memory. I must talk to Chrissie she might remember more than me, Chrissie's daughter Mona had twins last week a boy and a girl.' bye for now Mary Dolan

Hi Mary,
The Farrells you are talking about would be first cousins of Brendan's, I don't remember either family, but Brendan has been corresponding with me giving me the info.
Chrissie will have her hands full I am sure helping out with the new arrivals, delighted for herself and Bobby.
Rose.

Hi All,
We were talking about security and the fact that we were'nt too bothered about locking the doors, was saying to Matt with the size of the keys you would'nt want to be dragging them too far, we used to lock the front door and then leave the key in the window, a lot of people kept it on a string inside the letter box.
Once while we were in Tipp on holidays tinkers broke in, they took nothing probably because there was nothing to take, but they cleared the presses of anything that could be eaten. Betty Duhig met them on their way out as she was coming in to feed the dog who proved he was no guard dog. Dave RIP secured the place he had the back door sealed like the entrance to Fort Knox.
Does anyone remember having trouble with ceilings falling down, when we lived in Connolly the ceiling fell down, don't remember that, but when we lived in No 11b McDonagh the front room one fell down, can remember all the excitement, Mam had just walked down into the kitchen when it gave way, when we moved to No 5A there were several cracks in the ceiling in the front bedroom, when we would be going to bed Mam would tell us to say a prayer it would'nt come down in the night.
Rose.
