Was never a member of the Choir ( they did not need any crows) but I to remember the choir members eating sweets after midnight mass this was one of the rewards at Christmas. My dad told me he was in the choir in the 40s and after weeks of rehearsals followed by a concert they all got a week off .He fellow soldiers remarked,"Joe Murray the only soldier to get a weeks leave for singing.

Hi All,
Was in St. Brigid's on Thursday night the grandchildren who attend Educate Together put their carol service on, lovely it was too. Had to have a good look around when the service was over, there are some photographs on display to mark the jubilee, there is one there of the choir boys in the late 50's, well worth a look, would love a copy, all the well scrubbed faces, the McGraths, O'Neills, Campbells, Callaghans, I could go on, also a lovely one of Fr. M.J. Cronin RIP ( up Pearse Joey) celebrating his first Mass at home, another one of the Choir (Adults) in the 60's.
Could not agree more Kentgal Re: Joe Kelly RIP what a voice and entertainer, an all rounder definitely had the X Factor, if he was here now he probably quip with something like "more like Max Factor"
Hi Rise and all, I actually have the photo of the Choir as you mentioned, all named as per seat row etc, I will make a copy for you and keep it in my car and when we meet will have it for you. Hi to Kentagal long time no posting, however I am sure you have caught up with the many postings since, thanks to you and Rose for the kind words about my Dad Joe Kelly, indeed I sadly miss his great singing especially in Mc Dermott Mess on a Saturday Noght, surrounded by his lifelong friends, Paddy and Breda Cleary, Gertie and Tom Coyle (RIP) Jim and Bab's Christy, Shay and Mary Walsh, Larry and Carmel Houlihan, Big Del Delaney and Doreen, and so many many more. Joe's ready wit was infamous and no matter what the event was always on hand to sing a song. I was fortunate to be in Mc Dermott Mess one Christmas Eve, and after the early midnight Mass all the Male members of the choir dropped in to whet their whistles, Jim Keogh, Chubby Geary, Sean Mc Alister, Kit Kearney, Bobby Moore, Joe Fahy, Joe Harrigan,Sean Callaghan, Des Nolan and Joe Kelly, if that session could have been taped or recorded it would have went on to be an even bigger seller than Susan Boyle, or the three Tenors. The singing of all the great Christmas songs was superb, and many a Pint was sunk that night, all the above with the exception of Sean Callaghan have passed on to that great Choir in the sky, Our loss Heavens gain. Have to rush now as Leinster are getting ready to kick off. (Up Pearse) and Kind Regards to all Joey K
Hi Joey K. I remember Chubby well he was in the Congo with me and i also met his Sister Josephine and her husband Aidan from Wexford on Calvary day this year. I also knew Des Nolan well and helped him lay the memorial stones at Plunkett.

Hi Joey,
Will hold you to that with the snap, a great collection of Camp talent, why don't you send a copy to the site am sure loads would love to see it.
As for your Dad, what a great loss, imagine what his input to the Curragh History would be like, not alone interesting reading, but the one liners I am sure would be thrown in as well. Used to love listening to him tell stories about the Camp. Hope your feeling better to-day, theres a little sympathy for you even though it was self inflicted.
