Hi Anthony, Hope you had a good time in Germany and not too much of the wine tasting although anything is better than Blue Nun, I remember that and Liebfraumilch God that was terrible wine but never knew better back then, now the wine has to be over 11% before I buy it not that I drink much don't want to give a wrong impression. I done some wine tasting in Portugal a couple of years ago didn't like it too sweet, also some in Australia it was honey wine now thats horrible unless you like your drink very sweet. Like yourself I would like to wish all members new and old a very Happy Christmas and best wishes for 2010. Cheers Mary C

Hi Mary C, I take it you're on night duty again, so now I understand how come you are on line so late at night and through the early hours of the morning! I raise my hat to you girl because I have so much respect for the nurses who look after all of us when we end up in hospital. And going by your posts you're looking out for the poor people who have no one to look after them or even visit them in hospital when they're really ill. So maybe just MAYBE with the forming of the Morden Platoon we or some of the members can join a hospital, local to us and we can form a visiting commitee to visit patients who NEVER have visitors!!

Hi Mary, Thank you thats such a lovely gesture, you'd be surprised how many patients don't get visitors sometimes for reasons out of their control, either no family members or who live too far away, and then there are those that might have 1 visit a week, and they are so grateful for someone to spend even ten minutes talking to them something I try to do, however where I work thats getting harder to do as we are normally working on our own, the ward I work on usually have 2 staff nurses and 1 healthcare assistant in the day and 2 nurses at night, however tonight there is just me but I managed to get a healthcare assistant to work as well, but you have to try get a nurse from another ward to cover you while you go on a break or else you don't get one and you end up doing a twelve and half hours shift without breaks, to me this puts patient's and staff at risk, but I'm just the nurse. Thats the NHS for you. Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday.
Cheers Mary C

Hi All, To all of the Morden Platoon, it was lovely meeting you all today, I really enjoyed today and the time just flew by, it was great to put face to the names, and a few familiar faces, hopefully the next meeting more will turn up. It was great hearing other peoples stories of their life on the Curragh, it really is a small world. Just in my brother's telling him all about it, he'll be on the site soon and hopefully join us.
Cheers Mary C

Hi to fellow Morden Platooners and all, Well what a brilliant day we had! Kathyo and her sister Eileen, Mary Carroll and Noel O Neill along with myself Anthony Moore, Limerick and Mag all turned up at Morden Hall. It was lovely meeting all of you. So in fact the membership doubled since the first meeting ,it was great lovely venue and the sun was shining we talked and talked and had such a laugh remembering the good old days Once again the time just passed far to quickly we meet up at 9.30 and before we knew it, it was 2.30 and we had to call it a day, and what a day it was, a definite success. Can,t wait for the next time where I'm sure more Curragh Folk will turn up, and guaranteed they'll have a great craic. Bye for now MaryF

Hello To Everyone & Hi To All You Morden Platooners WoW ! I would firstly like to thank those five lovely Curragh Ladies for gracing us with their company and making the second meeting of the Morden Platoon such a wonderful success. The Ladies certainly lit up the little cafe with their stories and memories of growing up in the Curragh Camp and the people they knew.Irish eyes were smiling for the occasion and i really enjoyed it in such good company and it really had the Wow factor .The time passed all too quickly and yet we were in each others company for 5hrs.Con & Noel had some great stories and sur i never got a word in now that's stretching the truth a bit as you know us yellow belly's are a quite lot. My good friend Con Dee choose the location and back ground for the photo shoot on a dark cloudy Dec day. From his right pocket he produced his camera and his left the sunshine a moment of pure magic not even David Bailey could do that. The craic wasn't good it was great and I'm so looking forward to our next meeting in the not too distance future in 2010.Who knows we may even swell our ranks for the next meet.
I would like to wish all the readers a happy Christmas & a prosperous New Year . The same to the Morden Platooners :Mag, Mary C, Mary F Katyo, Eileen, Con, Noel, & all your Families. Cant wait to see the photos. Cheers. Anthony.

Hi Eveyone,
What a wonderful day we had yesterday, it was so good to meet you all and to share our stories from childhood in the Curragh. We had such a laugh and lots in common and I'm sure plenty of our Curragh friends will definately want to meet with us next time. A big thank you to Anthony and Con - without them we would never have met. The venue was excellent and the company perfect.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
Also - thank you Mat for setting up the site in the first place.
Happy Christmas
Eileen
