Hi All
Well done to Anthony and all involved Con, Mary, Mags with “The Morden Platoon” . Its nice too see people who were at some stage connected with the Curragh Camp meeting up for a Tea or Coffee after all these years. If somebody can e-mail me a photograph of the first meeting I can post it on the forum.
Best of luck with any future planned meetings and do keep us updated and hopefully it will see new Ex-Curragh Camp people attend.
All the best
Matt

Hi All, That is a great idea you all getting together and meeting up, looking forward to seeing the photo. I would know all the girls and have not seen them in years so a pic would be great, well done to you all. The only person i would not know is Anthony, but i feel i know him well the way Matt talks about him. He was so happy to have met him at the recent Calvary day in Plunkett, and took plenty of lovely photos. So pg Anthony the next time you are home i hope to meet you. Keep up the Morten Platoon and hopefully we will start or own one here would be great.
Cheers Olive

Hi all, The Morden Platoon brainchild of Anthony and Con was a really brilliant idea. I am on half term this week and Mag booked Monday off to attend the meeting and it was well worth it. We talked and talked and exchanged so many stories and had such a great craic that the time just flew by, before we knew it over three hours had passed you know what they say time flies when you're enjoying yourself and the company on Monday was just genuine Curragh folk talking about their experiences on the camp'.But rest assured it was the first of many meetings and I hope more ex or present curragh folk come to join us to share or memories. Look forward to MAYBE seeing you Joey in the new year as you hinted, if that is the case then something a little stronger than tea or coffee would have to be to order of the day Hope you enjoyed the concert Mag! bye for now MaryF

Hi All Here is a photograph of The Morden Platoon in London at the first meeting this week. It is a great idea and it puts us to shame back here in Kildare. Who knows we may even manage to have a drink over the Christmas period or before the rush. Anyhow best of luck and I am sure there is more with People with a Curragh connection in London and hopefully it will grow from here. Photo: Con Dee All the best Matt

Hi Matt and all We're not putting you in Kildare to shame [Matt you seem to under estimate what you've made possible] if it wasn't for you and your websit the Morden Platoon would never ever have even been thought of.Because its you who have brought us all back together again. So maybe more platoons will now sprout up around the different parts of the globe that the ma's da's sons and daughters of the Curragh have emigrated too. Now that would be something wouldn't it? As for you lot over there you'll need to sort yourselves out if you want to organise that drink before christmas. But no better man for the job than Joey who's doing a great job of the countdown to the big day and giving me panic attacks Is it 58 days now Joey? Bye for now Mary F

Hi Matt. I agreed with Mary without the wonderful site which you set up none of this global commutation would be possible.Just think about all the posts about the past and present and all the people you have put in touch with each other.I would never have believed that i would have made contact with the lads that i served with over 45yrs ago and also made so many new friends. So step up Matt and take a bow well done. Bless you Anthony.

Hi Olive,
Yes, I did live at Plunkett M.Qrs. for a number of years up to 1963, serving some years in the Mil Pol. and a shorter time in the 3rd. Bn. I doubt very much if you know me as you would probably have been too young (Compliment).
Our Morden Platoon venture is proving to be a success, thanks to this website, and the good people from The Curragh who are supporting us. Hopefully, more supporters of our venture will join us at a planned future gathering down in Morden. Watch out for details.
Bye for now
Con
