The following photograph was sent to me by my sister Olive. The photograph was taken in the early 1970's when the team was winning all round them. The the coach was Christy Ennis. A few more regular posters to this forum are also in the photograph. Matt

Hi Ger, Yes Liz Goff is in the 2nd row on the right, my younger sister Ann Farrell[curly] is in the front row. This picture appeared in the Leinster Leader. Matt there was another one of the whole team printed on 26th Aug 1972 we've got the paper cutting but its badly faded. Maybe the Leader might still have a copy in their archives, don't know how long they'd keep photos. I tried but it only seems to go back to 1990. Bye for now Mary F

HI Ger and Mary, No Ger not the same Farrells people often get us mixed up I think they came to england about the same time I did in the late seventies. We're from Pearse 5 girls me Lilian, Ann, Denise,Imelda 3 lads Denis, Kevin and Derek. Rang Ann, now bearing in mind she hasn't seen the photo for a few weeks[we were going through some old snaps when I was home in August] But she thinks it might have been taken by the pebbledash wall outside the gym before the community games on the Curragh. Another name she remembers is Brede Fennell, now Ann is going to try to find the site because she was able to name everyone when we last looked at the photo[her brains not so fuddled yet] Bye for now Mary F.

Hi Matt,
Is there a prize for the person who name the whole team??? Here goes
Front Row From Left Christy Ennis, Declan O Toole(R I P), Theresa Flynn, Ann Farrell(curly) Isobelle Byrne, Olive Mc Namara(Myself) David Sparrow.
Middle Row From Left Elizabeth Moran, Brede Fennell, Sheila Jenkins, Elizabeth Goff.
The row of lads from the back are a Dublin team who join us for the display. The picture was taking in kildare Town, we were marching down to St. Brigids Park. I also take great pride in this picture, as my mother Maureen Mc Namara made the banner(what a job she done on it???) Also if you notice the crest on our tracksuit top, that is the St.Brigids cross which mam also done for us.
Cheers to the good days in the Curragh Camp,
Olive Mc Namara

Hi Ger and Olive, Yes Ger you've got us now,Imelda still works in the school in Newbridge. Funny really 3 of us have ended up working in schools despite our time in the girls school! Olive you certainly do deserve a medal for those names recognised the faces but would probably have still been trying to name them next week. So thanks for taking me out of my misery. Bye for now.Mary F

Hi Mary and Ger, Great to hear from you both It is only when Matt told me who both of you were, i could not believe it. Ger i hav'ent seen you in the bush pub in a long time. Gone very quiet out there. Sure i might see you out there some saturday night. Tell Ann i said hello. Mary dont know when i last seen you, i think the last time i seen you was when you were working in Mc Governs music shop and that is a long time ago. Myself and curly used to go in to you Still meet Curly in Kilcullen fairly often, and no matter when we meet it is always chat about things we got up to in the curragh, we do be breaking our heart laughing and i think people think we are mad. I remember not to long ago we were standing in Supervalue having a good old chat, we were there that long ,that the manager came over and asked us did we want a cup of coffee ;D Well girls it is great to be in contact with you, pg we will chat again soon

Hi Olive, I will tell Ann you were asking for her and it is a long long time since you saw me over [30yrs oh where has the time gone] I worked in Mcgoverns for nearly 8 yrs the shop sold a good few records to friends and neighbours from the Curragh. I loved it there. The shop closed down in 1978 and I moved to London had my family and have been here ever since. I go home at least twice a year and da always does a drive around the Curragh so I've seen the place as I knew it sadly disappear block by block. But the buildings only made up a part of what made the camp special to all of us the real foundation stones and characters were and still are the Curragh people to [many of them sadly left us now but what is clearly evident from this site never to be forgotten] It is the people who keep coming up in every thread and who made such an impact on our young lives that are the spirit of the Curragh. Without all of these characters either born under the shadow or joining up as soldiers or marrying into the army that really are the heart of the Curragh and made it what it is and why it is so dear to our hearts.
