Fellow Forum Members and Guests It has come to my attention that there have been a number of new threads started on the forum which have an “Adult Theme”. These threads are posted from anonymous guests and in this case from America and advertising “Escort Services” in the USA. Please do not open these threads and just report them to me at matt@curragh.info . I do check the forum daily to remove these unwanted threads, but it is an ongoing battle. Please do not as one of our forum members has done in the past and that was to contact the Military authorities in The Curragh and complain about the content from links in the thread. This has nothing to do with the Defence Forces and the forum was never intended to embarrass the good name of the Defence Forces and that of The Curragh Camp. The people who post these threads are the lowest type of life form and have no place on the forum or indeed on the internet. So please do not open their threads and under no circumstances should you click on the links contained within. Safe Surfing ! Matt

It was me who phoned the Camp re unwanted items on this site. If I am been singled out I would like to give my side of the story. From the time this site started I was a regular reader and I have given a number of photos to the site. When I saw unwanted items I eMailed the site on a number of occasions and got no reply. In good faith I phoned the camp to look for Matt and was told he had nothing to do with the site anymore (which I know now to be untrue) I was put on to a person I was told was then in charge of the site and gave him this message:- Some very ugly things were appearing on the website and as a father and grandfather I did not want children been able to access them. In good faith I tried to have them removed. Your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.

Joe, Dont think I know you, I believe you have the same goal as all the genuine users of this site to rid it of vulgarity for the want of another word, Iam not sure if you were a member at the time if you were you could have sent a personnel message to any member of the site who could have contacted Matt for you in hindsight ringing the Curragh wasn't the best route to go the defence forces have noting to do with the site whoever you spoke to and that could have been anybody, gave you wrong information. anyway Joe i hope the site stays clean and it continues to keep curragh people in contact with each other. I hope you will log on and continue or enroll as a member

I did not phone the military to be some kind of Tell Tail. I was very upset at what I saw. eMailed 3 times and got no reply. I phoned the Curragh Switch to get Matt's phone number and was asked why I wanted it. I said it was in connection with a webside Curragh.ie and was told that a person by the name of Gannon had taken it over. I was put through to a person I understood to be Gannon and it was only at that stage I told this person to check the site Curragh.ie. To day was the first time in a long time I loged in and I was upset. Things I saw on that first occation were very upsetting and I would not wish any chilld to view them. That is it thanking you for your reply.

Hi Joe,
As Tommy pointed out this is a forum and you certainly are entitled to your opinion as are all members and guests and all such opinions are welcomed , valued ,not necessarily agreed with that is one purpose of the forum. If you feel that a member or guest has caused offence please deal with it through this medium, you have the choice of Personal Message, E-Mail or publish your thoughts through this medium, Contacting other places is counterproductive to the ethos of the site as you can contact most members via any of the above mentioned ways.
I am late coming in on your concern so am not up to scratch with the issue you have raised,
Matt clears unwanted threads daily and at times several times daily you will appreciate that he is the administrator and can not have others censoring the site willy nilly.
I personnally believe that he is doing a marvelous job in that respect
At any rate keep posting and if you find the content of the site to much to bear cease all contact with it, I would prefer that you continue to look in.
Andy

Hi Joe
Welcome back to the forum and as you have said you were one of the first to contribute to the forum and supplied me with some great photographs and for that I am grateful.
As for the issue of the unwanted threads on the forum, I would never name anybody in any context on the forum without their consent. The whole issue arose when I was contacted by the military authorities on the camp to say that a member of the public had made a complaint about links to unsavory sites elsewhere on the internet. The fact that I was a serving soldier running a web site about the Curragh which apparently contained links that I authorized had a few alarm bells ringing.
I had to explain my case and carry out the following:
1. Telephone you and give my apology for any inconvenience caused to you and notify the military authorities that my apology was accepted by you and that that part was finished with.
2. Remove any links which were on the site. This was done before hand as I had spotted them in advance of contact had been made with me.
3. And finally I posted the Unwanted Threads, thread to warn others not to follow the links and not to be contacting the military authorities as these links are posted by unwanted persons to the forum.
4. And finally I police the forum and remove the links as soon as I see them and hopefully avoid and embarrassment to other forum members and readers.
In fact I had to remove some this morning
And as I have said the forum was never intended to embarrass the good name of the Defence Forces and that of The Curragh Camp. In fact the authorities in the Curragh Camp have provided me with plenty of historical information for the site and are currently working on some projects initiated on the forum, for the good of the Curragh and it’s history.
I hope this puts the whole issue to bed as I have certainly moved on and learned from it.
Matt

Re : UNWANTED TREADS Hi Joe as you are now aware that Matt is and always be on the ball as to the duties of a good Moderator and supervises the CONTENTS as rigioursly as possible, as our forum is open to freedom of thought and within limits speech without embarrasing anyone -place or thing, we all have views and opions on items that may come on the forum and everyone is invited to their opinon and view even though there may be users of the site not in agreeing that is why we have a certain amount of freedom of speech and views, please keep using the site as all items supplied are quite welcome and people far and wide are getting good memories back from a town that they loved so well. bye for now Johnny

Hello Joe,
I'm very pleased that you have now logged back onto the site after some time, as you know the site has been set up by Matt to keep the Curragh history alive and I believe he does a wonderful job, keeping out the undesirables is a mammoth task, one that Matt does very well. I do hope you keep in touch.
