Dear forum members, I found your site whilst researching my mother's grandfather, William O'Mahoney. We believe that his daughter, my mother's mother, was born at the Curragh camp in 1908. In 1914 she was sent to live with her maternal grandparents in Hampshire in England and lost touch with her Irish relatives.
Do you know where we might be able to find any records of her birth, if it was in the camp? She never had a birth certificate and searched herself at Somerset House and more recently we have tried the Irish Records office who also have no record of her. Unfortunately she died in 1997 but my mother would like to find this information if it is possible.
With thanks in advance for your assistance,
Samantha J Gore Hampton, SW London

Samantha Post your message on the Kildare page on the following site. The modorator will help if there are any records available. www.rootschat.com/forum/indexPlease remember that not ALL births were registered. Some were not (Midwives role) Reason why the law was changed to parental responsibility. If this is the case you should persue a baptisimal certificate providing you know the religion/church.
