I am researching the history of Belford House, Old Road, Brownstown. Old Road is on the Brownstown to Kildare road. You take a left turn just before you come to Larkins Pub, Maddenstown. The Aga Khan owns most of the land both sides of the road. I would be grateful if someone could tell me when it was built and any other information you might have.

May find something in the following clues re Ballyfair House (think Bedford House /same era may have been referred to in the same article which I cannot recall - sorry). Eg Ballyfair H. approx 2 miles via Brownstone at Ballysax was the residence of the British General Commanding Officer and was handed over to Irish Gov. (Lieut Liam Collins) some weeks prior to hand over of the Curragh Camp 16th March 1922.

Hi. Did you manage to find out anything about Belford House? There were Belfords living in Brownstown throughout the 19th Century. However I didn't think that they had the means to build a big house.

No, I did not manage to find out anything. Could you tell me anything you know about the Belford family who lived in Brownstown in the 19th century.
