BALLALLEY EXPERIENCES i remember john fogarty giving 6 of us the run around the alley one evening, his party piece was to butt the ball with his backside, brilliant player, tighe lyons andy heffernan sheamie harris all top players, doubles singles, all lining up outside the door waitingyour turn to get into the alley hands as sore and swollen after hours of fun, also the pitch and toss gambling that went on there after mass on a sunday, and some one would shout two the bobby harps which meant that the PAs were coming and a mad scramble would ensue and then every one trying to grab the money and running into one another.

I have very fond memories of the O'Higgins tce Handball Alley. As young lads we would go to 10 O'Clock Mass and run down to the Ball alley to play 5 a side soccer for a couple of hours. I married a fine curragh lass who lived next door to the alley. Loved when they put the door on for the competition's could have a good old snog then.
Great stories.

great site uguys was a member of the defence forces for 6yrs 88-94. was reading your page reference handball alley , had some great games there.played at least five nights a week always full. 1 player sticks out a mile and iv read some posts by him here if my memory is correct hes a curragh man, beatle carroll, didnt he win 2 all army titles in the one day ,, in clomel late 80s,, and then went to win 2 county champions, i rember and id say others that played around the same time could not get in the alley when he was around,,, also 1 other guy from the curragh who was a great handballer he played doubles with beatle he was called paddy fathy . i will pass on your site 2 some of my mates who spent time in the curragh , they would be very intrested in here,,, also is the swimming pool still up and going

Hello, my dad Paddy Geary (Chubby's brother) loved a game of handball too. I too have had a lot of fun lobbing a tennis ball in there.
