Would never have thought of all them Ken. Didn't know there was a barbers at McAteers. And don't remember Darlings Bike, did Reggie run that? Yea often got my hair cut there as a little lad. The barbers name was Johnny Taylor. I have been told that he had two chairs running and two waiting rooms. One for Officers and Cadets and the other room was for other ranks and civilains. And if you were in the other ranks chair having your hair cut and somebody arrived into the other waiting room, well he would see to them and come back and finish you later. True Story Do any of the older men on the forum remember Johnny Taylor and his two waiting rooms Matt

Mrs. Tobin also worked in the laundry with Mrs. Farrell and Mrs. Forde. And Mrs. O'Brien years before that.

Aisling The Church was on the Bottom Rd - Between the School and Ball Ally. - Just before & on the same side as Tintown. In front of Connelly MQs, before O Higgins Tce was built. Peter Hicky used to do the looking after and every Saturday night after confessions he changed the Alter flowers. His exit to dump last weeks still fresh blooms 'round the back of the Church came under the waiting - watching eyes of the block kids from Ceannt, Connelly & Plunket. The fastest runner got the prize for Mammy.

Hi Kentgal,
Was thinking it was too easy. I had been filling my Mam in on the news from the website. And she and a few friends were discussing it, partly Ken's 21 businesses and she asked me to put the question in for the trivia. Told her I thought the question wasn't hard enough. Have to think again. It was nice to hear your story about the flowers. Aisling

Hi Kentgal,
Just passed that information onto Mam and she said she and Ann Bohane were discussing last night, how she lived in the house that Fagan's now live in O'Higgins Terrace and she used to go across the road to the church on the opposite side of the terrace. So the terrace was obviously built then.

Quite right, but the Church was there 1940 & 50s (exact erected date unknown but definately before 1940's) before O Higgins Tce was built - on the fringe of bottom rd where there had been a huge green area extending from the road (beside the pink houses near school) to past the Ball Ally & 'other road going up from tintown to Plunket Bks and Sands picture house. The early priests were Father Hayden & I think Father Boylan came next or visa versa. The choir was situated just inside the main back doors. Officers and their families sat on the side nearest the road.
