Hi Ken, I will have a bash Sands Home----- Picture House and shop Ceannt Barracks----The Army Canteen Board sports shop and grocery shop Clarke Barracks----Bill Carrolls Bottom Road----Picture House, O'Donnells, Chemist, Butchers Darlings shop. Main Rd Hill---Dobbins,BarberShop, Mcateers, Cobblers, Wes, Post Office, Powells(Shop,Hairdresser,Poolroom, Taxi), Clothes Shop. Middle Rd McDonagh to Pearse----Maginns Grocery and Tv , McCrossen Photo shop. Reggie Barber and dry cleaners. Grocery shop and petrol at Devoy St corner(army canteen board Mrs Roddy and Mick Dunne) Easons other end of Devoy St. Maginns grocery and fuel in Pearse, Phil Lalors golf shop,
There was also a chemist at Maginns TV shop at some stage and reggies was the far side of the girls school. We could count the Dry Canteens ( Connolly Bks and McDonagh Bks) as these were smallr versions of Ma Sands Home Tommy H

When I was a child the chap who went on to own the butcher shop in the 70s was an apprentice…if my memory serves me right. Also there was a lady who sat behind a small window; her job was to take payment for the meat.
Along side the two butchers there was also a small shop, it think it was called Feleys or a name similar. I think it sold groceries, I remember buying a lucky dip in there when I was very young. I would be going back to the early 60s.

What about the credit union, it was on the corner of what I now know to be Devoy Street. Can't believe I'm that long around here and never heard that before. And then it moved to where the bank of Ireland was on McSweeney Road before joining up with the one in Kilcullen as far as I know.

hi Tommy My list was only east of Art Mc Murrough hill,but one thing no one could argue with you is how hard Mrs Ford and Mrs Farrell worked those two ladies deserve recognition.

Hi Aisling Devoy Street is the road between the band hall and easons, The abbatoir that i remember was down past the Golf Club, don't know if there was one nearer to the camp, before that.

Purcell’s drapery shop which was next to O’ Donnell’s was taken over by Austin O’ Donnell (RIP) in the early seventies and he turned it into a boutique for a few years.
