There use to be a chemist beside O'Donnells Shop - Was it Phelan's?
There were two butcher's shops beside each other where the carnival parked every year. One was Conlons, I can't rememer the other one. I believe Paul Darling had a separate shop near there.

It was Phelans chemist, Dermot Phelan was the pharmacist. Cranky codger! As far as I know there was never two butchers there at the same time. Before Conlons butchers was situated next to the chemist, it was located in the small building behind it, which later became a bicycle shop owned by Darlings.

I don't remember two butchers either. But do remember Mick Conlans and Dermot Phelan's.

More Trivia, I can name 21 businesses that operated east side of Biddies hill. Some families owned more than one. I don't include any mess or canteen, just any other business with over the counter sales. Can anyone name them or even add to 21?

Jamesie McMahon, they used to sell denim stuff, you might remember they had a factory somewhere making jeans and stuff. It was in the same shop as the shoe makers right beside McInteers.

There were most definitely two butcher shops side by side. I can remember being a kid playing in the saw dust on the floor.

Brendan, I think that the Butchers was all the one incorporating a slaughter house and butcher shop but you are right there was 2 seperate areas in the one building block. Tommy H
