Hi All Just heard with sadness the passing of our own forum member and good friend today. Joey Kelly a soldier true and true, not only loved his wife and family but his other passion was the military and his Curragh History, of which he was immensely proud. He came from a family with fantastic military service spanning back generations and loved to impart his vast knowledge of the Curragh History. A regular poster to the forum he kept us all informed and up to date. The Kelly family have lost not only a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Brother, an Uncle but also a true Curragh Gentleman. RIP Joey Reposing at Glennons Funeral Home Newbridge from 4pm on Friday with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 9-30am to arrive at St. Brigids Church, The Curragh Camp for Requiem Mass at 10-30am. Burial afterwards in St. Conleth's Cemetery, Newbridge. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to "The Curragh Lourdes Invalid Fund". Donations box in church. Matt McNamara & Family Newbridge

My sincere condolences to Kelly, the Quinn and Kelly family, even when we new the day would come when Joey would pass it still came as a shock to everyone that new him. These days we use the term gentleman all to often however, there is no other way to describe Joey Kelly who always had a story or tale to tell you. He will be sadly missed by all his Curragh forum friends.
Rest in Peace Joey

Sincere sympathy to all of his families, friends and colleagues on the passing of a unique soul. I agree with the sentiments by Matt and the other contributors above.
Joey's input to the forum has been wonderful over the years and his "Curragh Memories 50s, 60s 70s (Joey Kelly)" will transport any Shadower back to times long past in his beloved native place.
Joey RIP
Johnd

It is with profound sadness to hear of Joey’s passing. Joey was a Curragh icon, a self-taught intellect, who lived and loved for his family. The Curragh family lost a great man. My sincere condolences to Joey’s extended family and friends. Joey: I salute you and I am proud to have served with such a wonderful soldier.
