It was great to see the Referendum on same sex passed. Not only passed but with a resounding majority. I note in today's paper Archbishop Martin a decent human being state that the Church needs a reality check in this country. Time will tell. Andy

The referendum result is historical not only nationally but internationally. It is indicative of a young and progressive nation where thousands returned home just to exercise their constitutional right. The result will reverberate around the globe seeing many first world countries following suit.
I was very impressed with Archbishop Martin’s viewpoint. While he said he was voting no, he didn’t dissuade others from voting yes. The church’s stance is totally understandable and that’s okay in a democracy. I know men and women who have lived a lie all their lives’; primarily out of fear and how others would perceive them. Hopefully the outcome of the referendum will give them solace and the strength to know they are never alone. Everyone deserves happiness and social acceptance. I also hope that this will reduce suicides among lonely and desperate people, young and old.
