I note that there was a large gathering recently of some very fine motors and caravans near the Burma road.
Spotless clean washing being solar dried, milk churns gleaming in the sun all looked neat tidy and proper.
After a spell of a week or so this gathering moved on then I noted a tractor with trailer and a jcb doing a clean up of the site.
Strange that this is still allowed

Hi Sean hope you and yours are good.
The thing that gets up my nose about the whole thing is a blind eye is turned or at least that is how it seems to me, at the same time the same authorities are bombarding the over holders in the camp with eviction notice's and bullying tactics to get them out so that more of the camp can fall under the remit of the bulldozer.
As for the happy campers maybe they left a wad of money on deposit so the area could be cleaned up when they left.

Hi Andy. The problem these days are the bleeding heart brigade ie the do gooders these Muppets cant and dont want to see the point of view of ordinary people like you or i or the rest of the folk on this site. I watch with anger as over here anyway the minute any critisism of these people who leave a site in a state the race realations act is thrown at them. Freedom of speech dont make me laugh. I leaves a bad taste on my mouth. My opinion entirely. Sean Tracey.

Sean agree with some of your opinion but at the same time the so called Do Gooders have a place in our society and can and do make a difference being the voice of many who cant speak or be heard for themselves, saying that there is also the obverse to it. There is a major disregard or lack of education or maybe they don't give a diddle dah about leaving places of beauty in a mess. Our bogs same unofficial dumps for everything. The Curragh Plains same casual visitors who come to enjoy its vastness and safety think nothing of cleaning out the old motor and leaving the contents strewn about for someone else to clean up. But shure has man not done that all over the world. Andy

Sean and Andy,
You should know by now not to post negative comments on the forum. Tuh, Tuh...........The parish priest will come out and slap you down.
Have to admit I miss the debates we've had over the years, albeit the comments have been controlled and stifled by Father Ted!
.....Ah well!
Guest.

Hi Andy. I reckon them folk were on their way to a wedding in Rathkeel . Don't forget the space travelers have left plenty of rubbish blown about up there. I think you'd need a long handled brush to clean up that mess. Ant.

Hi Ant , Guest Guest I just don't get it in all other aspects of life re dumping littering the warden ect will scour through what was left to find a name or some such in order to bring the offender to buck but in this case as in so many others they send in the clean up squad and nary a word.

OOps was on the plains today many families here and there on it all enjoying the sunshine and the amenity. Much picnics were being had and they all cleaned up after scoffing their grub, fair dues to them.

Andy me auld pal took to the plains toay for my sabatical run, and after the open day that was held on the East side of the plains by the DTTC there was about 3 to 5000 persons of all ages and creeds in attandance and low and behold not a loose paper or any litter whatsoever to be seen and as i was coming up the Burma road lo and behold there was all of the rubbish from the afore mentioned visitors dumped just on the corner as you turn off to No4 range, and everyone high in their praise as to the guests having left the place spotless. but if one takes a stroll up around where there are large clumps of gorse you can see domestic and building rubbish and rubble dumped all around the place, but i do know that eventually the Curragh wardens do get around to these dumpings and there have been a couple prosecutions so far for these offences but if these dont make the papers where is the deterrent? anyway now that if have got that of the pigeon chest, keep well all and with the new football season just around the corner(LETS GET READY TO GRUMBLE) jOHNNY

Pick an shovel on the shoulder , prayer mat under the oxter, an the Quran being recited at full voice, an the billycan boiling on a stack of bibles at the same time cooking your mushrooms on the heat and flames from the good prayer book, an woe betide you if you don't conform. Remember the words "you broke your Mothers heart, but you wont break mine". But I could be pulling your leg. Ned.
