I'm not a Curragh Soldier though I did a bit of overseas training and a few courses there. Did 4 trips to the Leb, 61st, 72nd, 76th and 82nd Bns. Below is a pic of me and a buddy on a grand sunny morning in Bayt Yahoun. ;D

Hi Guys, My name is Brian Mitchell, I served with the 57th, 61st, 66th & 74th Bn's in Lebanon. I have recently started up a site which is all to do with UNIFIL. The idea is to try to get together as many photographs as possible of our time in the Leb, so others can see them, and learn what it was all about. Its also going to be a place to meet up with old comrades who maybe you havent seen or heard from for a while, whom you served with overseas. There will also be a notice-board in time as well. If you have any photos and would like to get them up on the site, Or if you have any ideas or suggestions, please have a look at www.unifil.ie Thank you.

Hi Anne,Olive and all Matts family, My thoughts are with you as I'm sure all of the other forum members are as well. We've all gone through the heartache and worry as our 'soldiers' da's, bro's uncles and all other family members set off to foreign wars to keep the peace. And we've all stood and waved goodbye and smiled our encouragement even though our hearts were breaking. We're Curragh kids and thats what we are made of strong stock, never let our lads know we are worried about their wellbeing We all know the endless weeks of worry, fear, and hope that each army family experience. We are all praying for your family and will be watching every day and night for Matts signing in to make sure he is alright. The buildings of our Curragh might be gone but because of Matt starting this Site he has the full Curragh community and spirit willing him on and the prayers should lift him well above any trouble around him. We are the family standing behind Matts family to support and help them. I think we've all come full circle and are a strenght to be reckoned with. The Curragh Kids we have a very special bond and we are unique. good luck Matt keep posting we are all behind you and the family. God Speed and safe return to you

Hi all Here is a little one I wrote many moons ago when on a late night duty in Ops Tibnin. The Peacekeeper! Un-selfishly, we left our fathers and mothers, We left behind our sisters and brothers. Leaving our beloved children and wives, We put on hold, our dreams, and our lives. On foreign soil, we found ourselves planted, In keeping the Peace their freedom we granted
Without our sacrifice, their cause would be lost, But we carried onward, no matter the cost. Many horrors had we, endured and seen. Many faces that now haunt our dreams. Those friends who have fallen will never come home, Their loved ones and comrades. Oh! So alone.
Those who survived were forever scarred, Emotionally, physically, permanently marred.
For those, who now sleep in eternity! Forgotten? Not ever - especially by we. By JK
